Me, you and Hail only ones to take Maryland in the pick em.Bring it @della !!!
You are one of the nicest posters on the board. Let me just say this, I am so thankful to Coach Barnes scheduling an Uber talented B1G team to play Sunday! I would hate to waste the day watching us play some undermanned Ivy school or something.Bring it @della !!!

I won't predict a score, but I think it will be a lower scoring affair.Thank you Della- my philosophy -it's a message board so why get worked up?
Prediction for tomorrow:
Vols 82
Terps 77
I was right on it being a low scoring affair. 🙂So.....
I see you guys are taking turns looking like shit.I was right on it being a low scoring affair. 🙂
I can’t figure out Tennessee. I want to call them overrated when I watch them play…but they just win.I feel pretty good about the Tennessee win considering we were without Josiah James & Jonas Adu
I can’t figure out Tennessee. I want to call them overrated when I watch them play…but they just win.
The offensive numbers are legit bottom 10% of power 5 when it comes to practically everything but assist % & FT %.
Arizona, on paper is a bad matchup for Tennessee. If they win that one, I’m a believer.
Tennessee is a Defense first team. They are the best at it. They were also without their #1 player (James) and another major Big (Aidoo).I can’t figure out Tennessee. I want to call them overrated when I watch them play…but they just win.

Right now, it seems if you can rebound and be even remotely efficient, you beat Tennessee.Tennessee's defense is elite. That will make them a very tough out in March. Biggest concern is their offense can sometimes go several minutes with poor ball movement, and poor shot selection.
Arizona has the #1 rated offense - and they have the 4th quickest tempo in the nation. That could indeed be a tough matchup, provided Arizona can get out and run. Tennessee will need to show the pace down dramatically - and play with an edge on defense to have a shot.
You really think JJJ is the best player? Torvik ranks players for their full contributions and he’s tied with Vescovi at 4th.Tennessee is a Defense first team. They are the best at it. They were also without their #1 player (James) and another major Big (Aidoo).
We will just have to see if what's what.
It is OK for you to be wrong, so carry on.Right now, it seems if you can rebound and be even remotely efficient, you beat Tennessee.
Maryland went 2/24 from 3, gave up 21 OR, and still had a shot to tie it at the buzzer.
Tennessee is good, no doubt; I just don’t know how good. Right now, I think they’re in like the 16-20 ranking “good” mainly because of no PG and no one that can get their own shot. When you have a 70% assist rate and are 278th in eFG%, you have no one who can create their own shot.
IMO, Tennessee’s ceiling and it’s floor are practically one in the same. The defense is so good that they’ll never be bad, but the offense is so bad that I don’t think they’ll ever be elite.
Not trying to crap on Tennessee, just what I think.
JJJ has not played much this season due to injury, so discussing contribution as in ranking is moot due to sample size. Santi has also been out.You really think JJJ is the best player? Torvik ranks players for their full contributions and he’s tied with Vescovi at 4th.

FIFY😜70% assist rate is amazing, actually. Looks like Tennessee leads the nation in assist percentage. Guess it doesn't really matter what percentage of the baskets are assisted, though, if you're not making many shots lol.
Tennessee is definitely lacking a go-to scorer or playmaker. I kind of feel like Tyreke Key could/should be a more consistent scorer. But, we've only seen flashes of that. The offensive woes are definitely worrisome. Maybe things will be different when Vescovi/JJJ get fully healthy. Could be a Championship team, but obviously not if the mediocre shooting remains the status-quo.
The metric is based upon per minute. So it has nothing to do with time played.JJJ has not played much this season due to injury, so discussing contribution as in ranking is moot due to sample size. Santi has also been out.
However, I think he has a complete game and very versatile when healthy.
70% assist rate is phenomenal. But they’re shooting 40.1% as a team from the field on 59.1 FGA per game. So, they make 23.7 shots a game, which equates to 16.8 assists per game. So, on average, Tennessee makes 7 shots a game when not assisted.70% assist rate is amazing, actually. Looks like Tennessee leads the nation in assist percentage. If you're hurt you don't play very well. I'm not rustled. I'm fine with you being wrong. I even said, "carry on". didn't I? 🙂The metric is based upon per minute. So it has nothing to do with time played.
Don’t get rustled, just stating opinions.
We’ll see. We can come back to this thread Saturday night. If you're hurt you don't play very well. I'm not rustled. I'm fine with you being wrong. I even said, "carry on". didn't I? 🙂
We can come back to it, but one game doesn't mean very much, right? Obviously, beating KU soundly on a neutral court didn't mean much, so this shouldn't either. We’ll see. We can come back to this thread Saturday night.
That game Tennessee had 24 TOs and 12 assists. I’m not saying it’s not a great win, it’s a phenomenal win…it’s why I have them at like #7; but, it again points to what I’m saying: be somewhat average offensively and you beat Tennessee. Tennessee has had one team score greater than 0.9 PPP (90 points per 100 possessions…which would be 353 out of 363 for KP), and they got drubbed. We can come back to it, but one game doesn't mean very much, right? UT beat MSU and Gonzaga in the preseason (scored 100 against the Zags. UT has beaten KU and Maryland on neutral courts. That game Tennessee had 24 TOs and 12 assists. That’s absolutely a testament to Tennessee’s defense. I’m just pointing to the remarkable chasm between how good their defense is and how bad the offense is and how that may, again, hurt Barnes in the NCAAT.
Are you really using a practice game as an argument for a good team?UT beat MSU and Gonzaga in the preseason (scored 100 against the Zags. UT has beaten KU and Maryland on neutral courts.
It can be argued that team A beating Team B is not necessarily a great team just cause it won 105-102. UT's defense is better than everybody's defense. If whoever your team is suddenly picked up UT's defense, your offense would look worse for it. But, is that a bad thing? No
Yes, I am. Practice or not beating MSU and Gonzaga is impressive. I never accused you of saying UT was bad. I also didn't say the offense gets worse with better defense. I said, by comparison the offense looks worse. Are you really using a practice game as an argument for a good team?
I’ve never once said UT was bad. I definitely think they’re overrated from a metric standpoint. Not a ranking standpoint. They won the games & that should be rewarded. End of the day, that’s all that matters.
But, no I don’t think if your defense gets better it makes your offense worse. Quite the opposite. If you get a LOT of steals, force the other team to press more (intensity, not back-court press) to try and get transition buckets, and you’re the number one 3-pt defense leading to long rebounds and transition opportunities, it feels like that should make your offense a lot better.
It’s why Tennessees offense goes bananas against cupcakes: they have a million transition, 2nd chance, and FT points.
It’s whatever. We disagree.
Just as an edit to say what I mean about from a metric standpoint, Tennessee is a 1 point favorite per KP against Arizona on the road.
Sounds good. Enjoyed the conversation. Don’t agree, but good conversation is never bad.Yes, I am. Practice or not beating MSU and Gonzaga is impressive. I never accused you of saying UT was bad. I'm excited about playing Zona. They like the Vols can look good and sometimes, not so good. Win or lose, it will just be a fragment of a total season.
Probably just a coincidence that the ball was used in some of the worst shooting performances, but there absolutely should be only one ball used throughout all of college basketball for consistency purposes.Someone Did The Research And Found The Spalding TF-1000 Ball Is Ruining College Basketball Games
