UVA rolls into Tallahassee tonight, which means I have a court side seat for a lot of dribbling and standing around.

Seriously, looking forward to a hard fought battle. Hamilton usually does well against Bennett, but this UVA defense is on another level. FSU is going to need a nice shooting night from Angola and MJ Walker, and it will be critical that we get some easy buckets in transition.

I think the 'Noles keep it close (can't remember the last time we were blown out at home), but ultimately UVA moves to 12-0 in the ACC.

FSU - 58

@jhmossy anyone besides Nigel who will miss the game?

This should be a really good game. Probably single digits throughout. I am only aware of Nigel Johnson missing the game due to suspension. Bennett only has a losing record vs. two ACC coaches - Coach K and Leonard Hamilton. Also, our record in the state of Florida is abysmal.

I haven't watched a lot of FSU this year but their length and athleticism will be a problem. I watched the Louisville-FSU game and noticed that FSU went underneath a lot of screens. I am not sure if that was intentional to bate UL into shooting 3s but, if they do the same vs. UVA, I hope we punish that.

I think this comes down to turnovers. UVA is the best in the ACC at limiting turnovers on offense (15.2%) and forcing turnovers on defense (23.9%). I think FSU takes care of the ball just enough to eek out a win.

FSU wins 68-64.

It's not. Ham has been pretty upset about his guards' defense this year (except Trent Forrest, who is a jump shot away from being an all-acc guy). Ham cannot stand guys dipping under screens and it's a big part of why our D is 71st.

Agree that turnovers--especially live ball ones--will be huge.

I just noticed that FSU hasn't held a single ACC opponent below 73 points. I think that will change tonight :)

I mean, Hamilton only had one guy lined up in the block to rebound that second FT. That is the height of stupidity.

Ehh. We have been pretty good in close games over the years. Won quite a few this year too.

Grit indeed. I was right next to UVA bench and there was some exasperated Hoos in the first half. But Guy sparked y’all with his shooting and the team just would not back down.

1-10 from 3 for FSU didn’t help, but I thought the real difference maker was CJ Walkers turnovers in the second. Not a good game from him.

Would have liked to see Mfiondu get more minutes (6 and 6 in 10 min) but overall y’all just executed and made more contested shots down the stretch. Tip of the cap.

Outside of maybe WVU, that was the best on-ball perimeter D I've seen against our guards. We played a lot more ISO than we normally do. I think we had 8 assists on 22 made FGs. Not what you typically expect from UVA. FSU will be a dangerous team in the NCAAs. I have no interest in playing you guys again.
