For that dam stop sign ticket. I signed up for the online $175 traffic school. But I have second thoughts. Never did the traffic school. Got sent a letter that if I dont do it, a bench warrant will be issued. Im going to contest it in this po-dunk court. What are my chances?

Get ready to pay $300 before you can leave. $500 if you make payments.

Im going anyway. They will have to earn that $150 court cost. May ask for a continuance. Then jury trial. Then once I have a date, I will show up and present as guilty and pay the fine. Your tax dollars at work!

    Good luck.

I fought the law 15 years ago on a ticket and the law won.

Loss of day off, fines, court fees and the ticket.

Totally agree about the court cost b.s. How can there be any costs incurred on the courts behalf if you just pay the ticket. Damn racketeering.

I did the online traffic school once.

Kept points off my license and didn't raise my insurance rates.

    Do the school, no biggie.

You never know. You might be there on a good day! I remember this one from a few years back from right here in the Bluegrass:

Elvis impersonator drunk in court, gets 3 days in jailhouse

    Wednesday, March 5th 2008, 8:16 pm CST

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (AP) - One central Kentucky Elvis Presley impersonator may be singing "Jailhouse Rock" after showing up for court drunk and dressed like Presley.

A Jessamine County District Court judge says 64-year-old David Blaisdell of Lexington must spend three days in jail for contempt of court. Blaisdell was wearing sunglasses and dressed in a rhinestone-studded shirt with a scarf draped around his neck when he was sentenced.

County Attorney Brian Goettl (get'-tel) says Blaisdell was in court for a pretrial conference on misdemeanor charges of stalking and violating a protective order. Goettl says the judge had Blaisdell tested for intoxication. The result was nearly twice the .08 level at which a person is considered legally drunk in Kentucky.

Goettl says Blaisdell told the judge he had had a few drinks the night before his court appearance Tuesday.

My argument is the stop sign is 15 feet away from where you can safely make a turn. . You cant turn at the stop sign after being at a stop without looking to your left for oncoming traffic. You have to move up past the sign before being smashed. at least 15-20 feet. Its a new stop sign. .

In NJ if you come to a full stop behind another car or cars before a stop sign, you do not have to fully stop again at the sign. However you can only proceed when safe.

Take a bunch of thick law books with you and spend hours referring to obscure precedents. If possible, even go back to the horse and buggy days for your examples.

Either they will be so impressed that they will rule in your favor, or be so bored as to rule in your favor just to get rid of you. It's a win-win!
