You can also say UK has had better talent than UNC since Cal got there. Cal should of had a title at Memphis, should had one in 2015, consistently top 5 recruiting classes so the notion of him not being at a blue blood is pointless.

No doubt Cal should have at least two titles. But the bottom line is, all you can ask for as a blue blood is to have a chance to be there at the end. No one has been more consistent than Cal since he’s been at Kentucky. Not to say other coaches haven’t had better years, that’s not what I’m arguing. But other than 2013, Cal has had his teams playing well to their best at the right time of the year and had a chance to make a run every time.

Roy was given the opportunity to coach at two Blue Bloods.

Would you take Roy's 3 titles and two down years, or Cal's 1 title and 600 recruiting titles, who also went to the NIT once. It's not very close. Hell, there is a strong case for Roy>The Goat, since he's been at CH.

Whatever you think of the "scandal" at Carolina, Roy deserves a ton of credit for keeping the Heels competitive and even winning a title in the midst of it, and barely losing another. I'm not sure many coaches could do what he did. Even the 2005 title was an accomplishment taking over Doherty's disaster and then beating Illinois in their backyard. The repercussions of the scandal are coming to an end, finally. I think ol' Roy might even have another title left in the chamber.

Of course I would, that's not what I was arguing though. Roy has had some fantastic teams, but Cal's bad years aren't really in the same ball park as Roy's.

Agree with that. These down years have been pretty brutal. It's not what you'd expect from a blue blood, at all. And when things go poorly, I think Roy tends to lose control of the season. Granted, it's rare. But, Adversity (on the court) may not be his middle name.

Good news for you guys is you will probably keep most of this team, and Roy will have them back to being competitive next year with some nice additions. Happens when you win titles, you lose a lot and the following years can be rough.

A bunch of missed FTs cost him at Memphis, but the rest of your point is valid. 2010 and 2015 will always haunt me. But if you're going to vilify him for not winning those two years, you have to give him credit for almost winning it in 2014 imo

Roy didn’t win a title at KU, a few FF’s and that’s it.

Another point that gets left out a lot is the fact that Roy has been at a true blue blood program (KU & UNc) for around 30 years or longer and only has three titles. Cal has only been at UK for what? 11 years! Pretty sure if Cal has been at UK for 30 years he’d have a few more titles.

Yep. Lost to K in a NC game.

And thanks for proving my point. Just isn't that good.

And would the UNc fans please stop with the since he has been at UNc crap. That is not when he started coaching and makes you look even sillier than normal.

LOL. Google "Roy Williams." ESPN, CBS, NBCSports, MSN, etc etc. It's everywhere.

1 title in 11 years = 9.1% chance Cal wins a title each year at a BB
3 titles in 31 years = 9.6% chance Roy wins a title each year at a BB

Any other dumb comments you'd like to make? Lol.

DES only had two and look at the NBA guys he had and the pipeline to NYC.

Again, just not that good. But he did give us the shot clock and AFAM U and the huddle at the foul line and the hold up your fist if you are tired and oh yeah, point at the guy who gave you the assist.

Those are major improvements in the game, right? Bwaaaaahhhhhhhhhhaaaaaa.

Oh, I also forgot, he gave us chain smoking and scotch and enabling Phil Ford driving around the country recruiting and driving and drinking.

Over 30 years now. 3 titles. Not bad. Very luck that Doherty shit the bed and those players had to stay.

Anyone that thinks RW sucks, is not playing with a full deck.

If RW was coaching your favorite program, you would defend him. 3 titles is an incredible achievement.

As a UK fan, I would be ecstatic if Cal won 3 titles since 2005 at UK.

I get hating your rival, but you lose all respect on this board by letting your hate override common sense.

But, maybe board respect isn’t that big of a deal to some. To each his own.

Jeremiah Francis, the only non walk on PG on the team right now, is out today. If you gamble, you have time to hit up the Clemson ML.

So outside of two midmajor grad transfers and a walk-on there will be one healthy player suiting up. If Clemson can't break the streak today they should ask the league to just skip this trip any time it is scheduled.

Three upperclassmen beat backdoor in OT. There aren't but like two players on this team that have a decent basketball IQ. And both of them are injured.

That was an embarrassing display of basketball by the juniors and seniors on this team and the decision not to foul at the end of regulation and OT is just egregious from Roy.
