Glad everyone is safe
Think we're out of the woods although bald cypress trees are going to start growing in the yard, it is so underwater. Prior to today's rain, we've had a ton already..ground was saturated.
Woke up to Round 2 or maybe 3. More rain and sirens going off again in Midtown and downtown Tulsa. Lots of flooding in the metro area.
Be safe up there.
Just talked to some former work friends in the Tulsa area. It was a long night, they've gotten a whole lotta rain there the last 24 hours. They're all working from home today because their office building is more or less blocked off getting in no matter what direction they come in from.
More nastiness about to hit us. Tornado watch. flash flood watch. Lakes are full.
Sirens going off right now in Tulsa. Lakes and Rivers flooded, more coming. Leaving for the Lake in the morning, hope I don't float away!
I'm streaming channel 2 out of Tulsa. That is one big ass anvil east of the metro...
stay safe out there
Joplin is about to get hit by another strong tornado, 9 years to the day of the EF-5.
Looks like it may hit just northwest or the northwest portion currently.
Webb city is right on the line. Those two towns run together. My wife's aunt lives in Webb city.
Looks like according to Google maps that it should be hitting a golf course between Carl's Junction and Joplin to Webb City. Never been near there but that's what TWC had
River Spirit Casino (Creek Tribe) shut down at 1400 today because of flooding on the Arkansas river. Parking garage and pool area being flooded. NEWSON6.com if anyone wants to see the stream. My lake house is on Grand Lake and the dam level is 755 and water is at 754.78 with all gates open but inflow more than they can push out. All dams and rivers are way over capacity. Gotta love Oklahoma in the spring! Last time this was this bad would have been in 1986, also Memorial Day weekend.
My wife and I used to live in Joplin. My daughter was born there. The fact that that area is getting hit hard again 9 years to the day.
Another tornado headed right towards my lake house. My wife said please either no damage or total destruction. LOL. I'll see in the morning I guess. Tracking a little bit north of my place now. It's like the movie Twister today as they keep popping up everywhere today. Looks like it track northwest of my house according to the radar and storm chasers. God Bless these guys and weather guys!
If the leather won't go to da swamp.....bring da swamp to da leather.....
We are damn close my friend! If any dam fails down river is screwed. All we have are dammed rivers and levees.
Keep ya head up.... unless you need to duck....
I don't miss living in flood, hurricane and tornado areas...... though now, a stiff breeze and the shallow ground here will have a tree fall fairly quickly..... luckily, the trees here are as short as the deer....
