Top 10 NBA Players of All Time

I don't believe he would dominate in the same fashion that he did in the 60's. He would still be the gold standard for size and strength. But, he he wouldn't have a crazy advantage over modern-day centers. He was physically superior in every aspect to the center of the 1960's. Would he still be a superstar if he played today? Sure. But, given the small-ball evolution of the game, compounded with athletic big men on every team, he wouldn't be unstoppable, IMO.

Small ball evolution looks like if eventually could be going to point centers...

Like what we see with Jokic.

There are some centers who could play at a high level today. There are ones who couldn't.

Like I have said in regards to Shaq...He would have issues.
But others had the skill sets that could allow them to play today.

Wilt is a possibility. Wilt was very athletic for his size.
Could play on the perimeter.

One of the first players I really remember.

He was a bigger guard as well.
Think he was 6-5

But wasn't a long 6-5. Some guys 6-5 have wingspans 6-10 or 6-11.

Anyone who has played basketball understands this...
Longer players have more impact because of their size.

So hard for him to be up there. Especially considering according to some Maravich hurt the team more than he helped especially at the NBA level.

But even with that. Had an extremely high basketball IQ. Could create a shot out of anything.
The term is unorthodox. Especially in the late 60's and 1970's.

Have to look at the Jazz after they left New Orleans to find the players not receiving enough credit

John Stockton and Karl Malone.

Anyone who knows the history of Shaq knows that they had Shaq's number.

The question becomes who deserves the credit. Stockton or Malone

According to win share they are Top 6 players.
Because of not winning a NBA Championship people don't give them their credit

I will go with Malone.
I know Stockton made Malone a better player.
Even got Malone into being a consistent FT shooter

But size matters. Malone was a bully.

Made the Jazz a physical basketball team.

I still remember when he punked David Robinson. Robinson was always considered soft. Reason why the Spurs brought in Rodman.

Malone is by a definition a PF. Very few played the position like him.
Some might have been even more physical like Charles Oakley but neither of them really developed the total package like Malone.
His shoulders and elbows were huge.
No one used their size and athleticism like Malone did.

Anyone who doesn’t have Bron #2 is trying way, way too hard.

Yeah....

Possibly.
But anyone younger than 45 may not realize how elite Kareem really was.

Narratives get to push to the now so people watch television.
Next elite player it could LeBron vs them
Just like how it is MJ vs LeBron or MJ vs Kobe
Kareem is a solid #3. Russell #4. Kobe is borderline top 10. But that’s just one guy’s opinion.

Point was...
If someone wants to rank Kareem as the #1 or #2 it is hard to argue.

Some of his numbers were crazy
30 ppg 15rpg 5apg
This was before they recorded bpg and spg
Most likely would have had 4bpg and 1 spg in his first MVP season.

He is top three in points, rebounds and blocks.

A lot of people are too young plus the NBA was very local in the 1970s.
You had be living in Milwaukee to know what Kareem was doing because games weren't Nationally broadcast. Was older when he made it to Los Angeles

Kareem could be the most decorated basketball player of all time.

Even Magic will tell you Kareem was better than him by a lot
