He is putting quite the staff together at UGA. Not sure how well we will do, but love the staff he is bringing to Athens. Will be very interesting to see if UGA basketball can be turned around.

Who is the staff and why do you like them? He already scared away one of the best southern recruiters in less than 2 weeks on the job.

For Georgias sake, I hope Crean does well. But I know way too much about him to believe he will. He's a complete spaz and is not received well by recruits at all. He got recruits to IU in spite of himself.

He literally would text players the day of when practice would be. On their days off, the players wouldn't know unless they didn't get a text by about 9pm. No schedule at all. WTF would think that's a good idea?

And he runs his assistants into the ground.

I really hope he does well at UGA. I guess we will see. He hired Chad Dollar and Amir Abdur-Rahim. Both are are well known in the Atlanta high school scene and recruits in the ATL really like those guys. Best staff we have ever hired at UGA for basketball so i hope it pays off. Hopefully the year off from Indiana gave Crean a little perspective. Both Rahim and Dollar played high school basketball in Atlanta and are really plugged in. Pretty smart move by Crean but time will tell.

He'll probably do well enough for Georgia standards but i wouldn't expect anything more than a sweet 16 or two.

We have been so bad for so long. Would just be nice to make the tourney somewhat consistently. Maybe Crean can do that for us starved UGA basketball fans.

He needs to smarten up on scheduling. Had WEAK schedules at IU which I never understood.

If he learns from his (IMO massive) mistakes an IU, I think he could do alright. Time will tell.

There was a joke going around the reporters that related to the average no’s on an assistant coaching search. It was related to Crean. Apparently he was told no a lot. He is known to be horrible to work for.

It will be interesting to see how he does down there. He struggled with zones, defense, and turnovers at IU from a coaching perspective. From a recruiting perspective, he lost Indiana AAU and HS coaches which lead to signing only one kid after Blackmon and that one kid was a D2 talent. This was mainly coaching and his crazy need to oversign every year and run kids off. That and signing none D1 kids because he thought he always needed 13 scholarship players. He is kind of a used car salesman. Puts off this goody, goody vibe but behind closed doors is an A-Hole. He scared the crap out of Peegs when he threatened to pull his access. Hopefully your writer never had to put up with that or the late night texts to remove posts they didn’t like.
