TJD to IU

I know...Top 20 kid....But no one knew who he was....Laughing Yeah, ok.
I admittedly don't follow recruiting b/c I'm in my 30's and have started feeling weird about following what 18 yr olds are doing. The crazy hyped guys you kinda know by default but i know very very few unless Kansas is a good possibility. The last couple years recruiting curiosity has waned big time for me unless its the huge recruits that are blasted everywhere. I have never heard a single thing about this dude and thats not a slight---obviously a good get by his ranking.

I get this.

Kids an absolute stud. I’d take him
At Duke in a heartbeat. Tremendous talent that will be around multiple years. Izzo made a big push to try and get this kid last minute and failed.

Congrats IU. I think your future looks bright with Archie running the ship
I think it's safe to say we're due....its only been 31 years.

Not really, I just didn't know who he was. Good get for IU, congrats. Miller should get the program back where it is supposed to be soon.
Honestly, I'm the exact same way for the most part. If my team isn't going after him, or he isn't one of the yearly mega recruits that constantly being talked about...I couldn't tell you anything about them.

I think he was always considered IU maybe so that could be one reason people don’t know him.

Been excited about this kid for a long time. In terms of potential, think Juwan Morgan with more length/athleticism. That and he will likely be at IU for at least 3 years. Lefty as well, which will throw a lot of defenders off in the post. 6"9 right now, hoping he gets to 6"10 within the next year.

Yeah, there are a bunch of reports of coaches starting to recruit him, but a week later pulling away because it wasn't worth the waisted resources. North Carolina was one team I know did this.

I actually think this will be bigger in the long run for IU then getting Langford last year. Since romeo will only be on campus for 1 year, theres a limit to the value he can bring imo. But, if TJD does stay for 3 years, it could be a major step in making IU relevant again on a consistent basis.

That is probably where I heard the name then.

I wouldn't say "no one" but i wouldn't say it is too much of a reach that most people do not know who this recruit is. I never heard of him until I opened this thread a few minutes ago....and I follow recruiting.

A lot of the reason is because he has been a lock for IU since the spring. Izzo and Michigan State made it “interesting” but the kid was going to go to Indiana.

UNC for instance reached out and watched him during the summer and then realized it wasn’t worth their time.

This kind of thing is somewhat frustrating. Kids know where they want to go, why wait? Just commit and quit wasting everyone's time.

I suppose that could be some of it. My point was more that it is completely possible to not hear about a guy even though they are highly rated. It isn't that uncommon.

I mean, yeah, I guess. BUT...I see nothing wrong with a kid wanting that experience.

Oh trust me, it was kind of comical seeing the IU boards slowly melt down over a 6 month period because of his recruitment. Both national and local recruiting beat writers were using language like "it would be impossible for him to be anymore of a lean for IU then he is right now". So, fans are seeing these guys use language that's never used in recruiting for the past 6 months. So, seeing how some fans dealt with constantly being let down from how THEY believed this process should go was really funny....and in the end irritating.

If he's as good as he's being made out to be in this thread, being in college for 3 years is quite a stretch.
