I don't believe that dealerships take advantage of dumb customers. My cousin bought a 2014 Nissan Rogue last November for a $16,000. The Nissan dealership was great, and despite him not having a job but starting training in a few weeks they got him a loan. They worked hard to get his payments about the same as the car he just wrecked so he only pays about $360 a month with a full 1 year warranty.... for 84 months.


He didn't try to talk them down any, but paid full sticker for it. To this day he still thinks that dealership is amazing and gave him a great deal. PS- He didn't keep that job long.

If I had to guess his credit score, it would be in the 400s. His co-signer likely has decent credit. He could have misspoke his term length. But it was from some company out of Georgia.

I also assume he payed extra for the warranty, etc... So the 16,000 sticker turned into a lot more.

That's actually not that uncommon. Also, I'd be willing to bet he banks with Ally and got his own loan.

Also, the guy is a complete dipshit for buying 4 cars in 2 years. At least do a 24 month lease if your going to trade that often.

No one does the math. (I said this earlier). 360x84=~30k for a 16k car they probably had 8-10 in. I'm sure they just straight stole any down payment and any equity. laid on caps on the backend, warranty was "thrown it/great news".

It is bitter cold here. Im not much into talking about the weather. but if I was sucking ass, I swear it would be from a dead man.

I was talking to my wife, and the great news is, if the weather is the only thing we're talking about, politics and civil rights must be doing ok.

On October 4th, it was 97 degrees in Louisville. Today, the high is 27.

Fall is my favorite season and I can't remember the last time we had a nice, long one.

Dang, I didn't even know credit scores could go that low.

My wife has always leased. It actually works pretty well. You get a nice, new car every 2.5 to 3 years and never have to do any maintenance. I know you never pay it off either but you always have that option if you want to.

 

I've seen scores in the 300's.

...and yeah, if people trade every few years it's definitely the way to go. If you keep cars forever then it's just best to buy.

 

That is wild. I thought scores in the 600s were bad. Shows you what I know about that world, haha.

 

How do you get a 300 credit score? I would think that credit card companies would stop giving you cards when you got to around 600. And nobody is loaning you thousands of dollars when you’re in the 500’s. Right?

FYI, the other night you never did tell me what to say to the sales agent to get him to lower the price. That was the whole reason I called in the first place. Lol

 

Yeah, we know our credit and when we go to buy a car we first make sure they know we know our credit. Then we give them an amount we won't go over and they have one chance. No biggie if they can't make it work but if they can't, then we'll find someone who will.

 

These last couple of days have been interesting for me, I hope they have been for you all as well.
