I agree. Iowa being nationally ranked, and in title contention is good for the health of college basketball.
OP is a fan of Michigan basketball and OSU football.

Is Iowa really a title contender? I mean, that defense is going to have to give up less points than the other team for 6 consecutive games.
And 5 of those games are going to be against very capable teams. I wouldn’t be shocked if Iowa made the elite 8 or lost in the round of 32
Can we make this the non IU/PU B1G thread? Watching those guys try to measure their micro peens is getting out of hand.
Sounds about right to me. I could see them making the Elite 8. They're ridiculously talented on offense. But, I've never considered a sub-100 defense a legitimate title contender.
I’ve glossed over a lot of those pages. They’re worse than Gil at times. I miss that millionaire.
If you are going by the KenPom defensive efficiency ratings, Notre Dame made the elite 8 in 2016 with a defensive ranking of 158 (9th offensive ranking).
The only other team to do in since 2002 was Marquette in 2003 with Dwayne Wade. Marquette made the final four with a defensive ranking of 109 (#2 offensively).

It won't be the defense so much as they'll run into a team with guards who do about 18 dribbles between their legs and then shoot (and make) 14 step back 3s while Iowa decides throwing the ball in an ocean is actually safer than finding their basket...........

They would get smoked by any team with a decent, athletic big and good guards.
Iowa hasn't been past the 1st weekend of the tourney this millennium. 🤣

It's not 2017, we don't even play that style anymore. Garza would get shut down, and Iowa has nothing else.... blow out.
Too bad we won't find out, since Iowa can't ever advance far enough to play us. Couldn't even get past Northwestern State to play us in the second round in 2006.
You’d think they actually had never left their state, lol. I like the state of Indiana (especially Indy, ridiculously underrated city!), but the insular obsession those two have with each other is next level. Since Illinois’ Rivals board sucks, I often cruise through other B1G forums, and there are like two daily threads on each of their boards obsessing about each other. Bringing it to the national board is hardly a surprise. They’re like bickering messed up siblings who both secretly want to bone.
As for the OP, I will agree in theory but have some changes. There are three Big Ten fan bases who 100% care more about basketball than football and have rabid fan bases because of it, and it’s better for B1G hoops when they’re good: Illinois, Indiana and Purdue. Then, obviously, MSU has become a staple and the class of the league over the long haul. I also enjoy when Iowa’s good, as their fan base is just generally rabid (no pro sports and all), and Michigan being good along with that group certainly harkens back to epic 1980s Big Ten basketball. Unpopular opinion with some, but I also think Wisconsin being good is earned by this point and also good for the league.
I have to say that OSU being good is kind of boring. Even their great hoops history gets overshadowed because they are SUCH a football school.
One year does not make a reputation.
remember,,,,Miss State was #1 in football, but no one removers when they were “good”.
