The best 15 seed in history.

Yeah by far. No 15 seed had ever made it to elite 8 before, and they all had to play a 3 seed. FGCU lost by 12, Oral Robert’s lost by a little, St.Peter’s did what no one else could have.

The crazy thing is, there’s nothing special about Saint Peter’s. Obviously they’re good and the players have talent, but they’re just fundamentally sound (maybe that *is* special nowadays). Great set plays, good rebounding team, and they hit their free throws. They impressed me when they were down by two possessions multiple times in the final minutes yet stayed composed and stuck to the offense. No one started jacking up shots trying to play hero ball. Well-deserved win!

Yeah and most double digit seeded teams would crumble in these situations, St.Peters' execution was just way too perfect for a 15 seed. I think they deserve to be at least an 11-12 seed, they are heavily underrated. Them playing good D was well known even before the tournament started though, Id have pick them to upset a 2 seed if it wasnt for a team like UK which had no history of losing to Cinderella teams. Now that you think about it, Cal's teams has never lost to double digit seeded teams in his entire career, it takes something special for them to lose in the first round like this.

This is a crazy crazy run. Theh didnt even win their conference regular season and beat only TWO teams with a winning record all regular season.

how in the world was the committee supposed to expect this???

Maybe its just me, but I feel this is an even greater accomplishment than UMBC upset. Think about it, its not only the first ever #15 seed in elite 8, but also the first time a team seeded below 12 had made it. Even 12 seeds only did it twice, and both times against 8 seeds that its debatable whether these are upsets at all. A comparable feat would be UMBC not only knocked off UVA, but also made sweet 16. They were very close though, they hanged around with KSU for an entire game.

Ehhh, I mean if you're looking at it from a talent perspective, yeah, there's nothing special.......

But what separates them from their opponents is exactly what you said.

They are running great offensive sets and their execution is firing on all cylinders. All that's left is for guys to step up and make shots, and they're getting just enough of that.

The other thing that's got them this far is that they are dialed in defensively and are very sticky defenders. No matter what their opponents do, they've always got someone locked on the ball or ready to step in and create traffic and disruption.

They're probably the most fundamentally sound team in the tournament right now, and they had to be in order to make the run they've had.

I teach high school history. History is fun…. When you have it.
Well, y'all made some, Congrats!

Speaking of history, I have been trying to bone up on it. It wasn't my favorite subject. A rivals friend told me to watch a series on it and it was longgggggggg, but interesting on WWII. It gave me a completely different perspective than I had had on it.

What’s the name of this series?

Turns out UK was kinda ambushed by St Peter's. No one would have predicted their run. They may have been a 15 seed, but now they are an elite 8 team, so don't feel so bad.
