Talk me out of Florida in the E8

Our Bigs cannot help on O when playing an athletic zone D. Can't go inside out.
Also not a very solid rebounding team.
To Fl's credit they have always upped their level of focus and intensity in the tourney (when they make it).

I think I saw a ridiculous stat that says Florida has gone to the Elite 8 7 of the last 8 or 9 years or something crazy like that.

No way. Florida is either playing really well or very not good, lol. They are way too big of a risk to have them going far. The further you have them, the bigger chance that you miss a ton of picks

I agree with this on FL, but theoretically if you're going against a large group of brackets, playing it safe will almost certainly hurt you. Gotta pick some against the grain picks.

Looks like five of the last seven which is still pretty impressive. Pretty sure four of those were with Donovan though. Amazing the kind of impact a coach makes.

I am thinking about putting past Texas Tech, but havent decided yet. I wouldnt have them any further than that though.

Yep. I always have one bracket with like a 5 seed or something in the E8. Having all 1-3 seeds in E8 is boring and normally won’t win the bracket. Last time I win a large pool was 2015 when I had MSU in the FF as a 7 seed.

To me, Florida has the best past as a non top 4 seed to the E8.

They lose to TTU in the 2nd round.

Just for more humor... Tech only lost 1 home game all year. We are playing rounds 1 and 2 in Dallas, which is only about 4 hours away and has a HUGE alumni base of Red Raiders. TTU fans will pack the house and it will be an unfriendly environment for the Gators.

Our fan base has a reputation for a reason.

All I've heard about on this board is how great Purdue is (from 2 Purdue fans) all year long. If they lose to Florida in the sweet 16 I'm going to be pissed.

Because Florida lays an 11 seed play in game team, and an 11 seed play in team has beaten a 6 seed every year since that format started.

They won't make it past UCLA.
BOOM we have a winner! UCLA will beat Florida and Cuse will beat TCU.

There's reason 11 seeds who win the play in game usually win their next game...these teams are generally peaking at the right time while 6 seeds are either stagnant or trending downwards.

Purdue and choking in a tournament go together like your asshole and your partners penis. Happens all the time.

There are a couple of head scratchers in there (post-Hummel injury loss to VCU and the painful loss to UALR) but most or the results in the lifetime of today's seniors don't support your assertion. I count 6 wins over higher seeds and 3 losses to lower seeds.

Wasn't aware that Texas Tech fans had a reputation for anything. Must be a regional reputation.

Which is sadder, Purdue's tournament success or the fact that you went to the trouble of typing that out over a simple joke?

Tech was pretty damn good all year until stumbling a little due to injuries. They seem to be healthy now. I think they could go far.

This is correct from a game theory perspective and taking a long shot like Florida who nobody else is likely to pick and who could conceivably run hot from 3 and go on a run seems like a decent enough gamble.

Who types shit when you can copy and paste it from the internet in about 30 seconds?

Keenan Evans did not look healthy vs WVA. I have a hard time putting them in the second weekend if he's not healthy.

Choking? Not really. It's happened, but more often then not they lose to a higher seed. Not going past the Sweet 16, then you have a point, but usually because they just ran into a 1 seed.

Now you know what its like for non Duke fans every single year.

Pretty simple with UF..

If they are hot... elite 8 would be no problem... or they could lose by 15 to st Bonnie.

UF beat Gonzaga
Beat Cincy
Blew out bama
Blew out UK.
Blew out Baylor
Was blowing out duke before an epic collapse

If the shooters are on, they are almost impossible to beat..

Lots of tournament experience on this team also.. chiozza
