Sports and social media

This is just life now, hardly exclusive to sports

Sure; this article was about how it is impacting sports.

It is damn scary, though... I will literally find myself surfing on my ipad, and checking a website, and a minute later checking it again, almost just out of habit.

I do the same. I’ll pull up a game and think “eh, I don’t want to play this” and then pull it up 5 seconds later without thought.

YES.

I am really worried that in like 20 years we will have found that our current version of the Internet and social media and our use of it has totally ****ed humanity. My wife studies stuff like that, and she says it is nothing but little dopamine surge after little dopamine surge after little dopamine surge, to the point where we are all literally addicted. I nod, and then I check Facebook.

But what the hell do we do? Do we institute phone and iPad free hours on the homefront, to try to get our kids not hopelessly addicted?

I’ve read where some people predict in just a few generations a lot of humanity will spend nearly all of their time plugged into virtual worlds in one way or another. By then the technology should be so good it will be hardly any different than the actual real world they live in but the virtual world will have an endless amount of options for things to do. It goes on to suggest that by then universal income will have been implemented because nearly jobs will have disappeared due to AI. The only real goals people will have is to improve themselves in their own virtual worlds that they live in.

Kind of a crazy thought that could happen. Another thing I read suggested that ASTEROID TERRORISM will be a real thing to fear in the next century or two. Meaning terrorists will have the ability to fling asteroids in any direction they want.

Radio ruined society. TV ruined society. Internet ruined society. Smart Phones ruined society. Sex Dolls ruined society.

Honestly when I read that article that I just mentioned above, the first thing that came to my mind was how I would spend all of my time in the porn world.
