If the Irish resume gets them a tournament bid, they should then be seeded based on their potential with Colson. Otherwise, some 5 seed is going to get a complete screwing!
This. They shot 16% today in the 2H against one of the worst Power 5 teams in Pitt. Colson is outstanding but this year’s ND team had plenty of holes either way.I know they came out of the gates hot, but at full strength they still lost to Ball State at home, neutral against IU (when IU was still playing like hot garbage), and weren't even competitive against MSU. I'm not sure that justifies much consideration.
PurdoooooooooIf you lost to Ball State at home and vs Indiana on a neutral floor at full strength, I dont want to hear any excuses. Those loses are inexcusable for a team with tournament aspirations.
Isn't the goal to get the top 68 teams? No question that ND is easily a top 64 team with Colson. If he was out for the year then I get the explanation but he is now back and I think ND deserves to get in.Injuries should have no bearing on who qualifies and where they are seeded.

While college sports seem obsessed with advancing the best teams, it should be about the best seasons. Compare Notre Dame to any other team and the team that gets more value for its season should be favored without regard to injuries.
How did Bama get into the playoffs then?
Ohio State, Wisconsin, Auburn and USC all had better seasons and I can make the case a couple other teams did also. Bama had around the 8th to 10th best season.
