There is a dozen or so kids in the state that Rick should be after if this is the type of players he is after this class.

If only our hall of fame coach knew your number. I can't believe that he is still winning even though you don't like his eye for evaluating talent. Smdh

Apparently Dick Vitale's grandkids go to school with McMahon, so there's his in with ESPN.

    Vitale twitter feed-

@jeffgreer_cj See u soon Jeff - told a number of coaches including Rick / he checked him & really liked him / great kid with super stroke

@PaulBiancardi Told U Paul a legit big time Player / Had 32 tonight in 64-62 win in regional game / made big plays / willed his team to W

Times must be bad when you persuaded by Vitale to recruit a 2*

I guess Pitino is trying to get in good with espn so we can finally get a gameday at the yum center.

According to a "scout" on Rafters, Vitale went to bat for the kid and got him a bump. He was a 2* on ESPN when I first posted because I looked him up. Many posters swear once guys commit to big name schools the mysteriously get a bump in the rankings.

How many 6 foot white kids are going to shoot their teams to a small school tournament win over the next few weeks? This is a head scratcher to say the least!

Reminds me of Rick Jones. Do any of my fellow Kentuckians know what happened to that kid? I remember he had a promising freshman year at Vandy, got booted from the team, then he disappeared.

I think Mahmoud will be in the NBA before his senior year. Project now, he's raw. But he's got offensive skills and intimidating height and wingspan. You can't teach 7 foot. He just needs to hit the weight room.

While UL can't get the big blue chippers, Pitino is one of the better evaluators of talent out there. He's been right more times than wrong, imo.

"The circumstances surrounding Ryan McMahon's pledge to the Cardinals might make for the oddest recruitment so far in this cycle.

"Honestly, it's one of the stranger ones I've seen in the 11 years that I've done this work," said national analyst Jerry Meyer. "I don't think there's anything I can compare it to, honestly."

McMahon - a 5-foot-11, 165-pound point guard from Sarasota, Fla. - had zero Division I scholarship offers before U of L Coach Rick Pitino surprised him with one Thursday night.

Not only was he unranked by 247Sports, Rivals.com and Scout.com, he didn't even have his own profile page on any of those major recruiting websites."

Honestly the main reason rick is a sub-par recruiter is because he thinks he is bigger than the program with his bs and arrogance. Im tuning into the post game presser and he is jumping down the reporter's throat and refusing to answer questions about a former recruit kat barber who had his way with us. His attitude reflects this bs product he's put on the floor this season.

I think the reason Pitino has troubles recruiting is because he wants players who buy into the School of Pitino. He wants guys who buy into him 100% and who he can completely mold with out question. That usually means more than a 1 season commitment or giving any resistance to the Pitino way.
