I still think ucla comes in at 3 with 11 titles. That carries weight.
Duke and Kansas are now interchangeable at 4/5. No real distinction. One has the wins, one has the rings. Both equal out.

Duke's accomplished more in the modern era, but I'd say that KU's got the edge in the all-time rankings.

And yeah, UCLA definitely has an argument for 3 or even higher.

Kansas has all times wins

Yep, and going into the tournament, Kansas had played 139 more games than Kentucky in order to achieve that but Kansas fans don't like to talk about that :)

Kansas also has 142 more losses than Kentucky and Kansas all-time win percentage is quite a bit lower than Kentucky. Kentucky also has a 24-10 head to head record against Kansas.

I mean...congrats tho.

How does a losing season and NIT feel, I wouldn't know.

Congrats, partner. Your boys were better in the 40s and thus rank higher all-time.

But would you rather be better in the 40s or the modern era?

UK fans really riding their 1940's and 1950's success dick. Thank God for Anthony Davis.

Laughable. Thee only way Duke would be ahead of KU is if titles is the only criteria. If that is the case UCLA should be ahead of UK.
You need to stop being so triggered. You went off like a little bitch when I wasn't even responding to you in the first place.

i don't see UCLA at 3...they are either #1 or they are #5, it depends on how much weight you give to titles.

If titles are so important, UCLA is hands down the top Blue blood. You really can't have it both ways.

recency just matters.

USC baseball is #1 all time in titles but who even talks about them in college baseball? No one.

it’s Florida, LSU, Vandy, Texas, Oregon State, Oklahoma State., UCLA, Stanford, etc

Would have had KU at 3rd before and after. I’m slightly harsher on schools that have too much of their history under one coach.
You can make good arguments for a lot of different combinations of the top 5. UCLA is hard to place. They’re obviously 5th in the modern era, but they’ve had success in many decades.

I’ll start with this. I look at Kansas, Kentucky, North Carolina, Duke and UCLA as the bluebloods. Maybe Indiana but I don’t personally think so but at the same time if you want to include them, then sure but they are #6 and nobody worth a shit will argue otherwise.

Kansas always lacked titles, Duke has a solid history outside of coach K but pretty much everything is coach K and UCLA is all Wooden. They made some FF’s in the 2000’s and again last year but for the most part they have been irrelevant in my 31 years of living (like Indiana). UK/UCLA won so many titles many, many years ago. They count but at the same time they were a long time ago.

UCLA has so many titles that is hard to ignore lol.

The thing that gets me is people rank UK #1 because of the history and titles but then knock KU for lack of titles. If titles are so important (they are) then you have to rank UCLA #1

For me, I consider a blueblood as a program with sustained success since the beginning of the spot. Titles would be of the highest measure of success but I think there is a lot of other things that matter.

I personally have a hard time saying UCLA is the best program when they have 1 title since 1975. They won all the titles in a 12 year span in the 60’s and 70’s. That’s a long time ago and was in a different time period.

Temple is #5 in wins I think. Do people even discuss them as a top 20 program? Lol.

I would rank them:

1.) Kentucky
2.) North Carolina
3.) Kansas
4.) UCLA
5.) Duke

I factor in the whole picture and when you do so, UK/UNC/KU are by far the most consistent and are not reliant one particular coach or era.

I rank UCLA before Duke because I think they both are in a similar criteria and I give them the edge because of the titles.

If KU wins another title before UNC does, I would probably rank KU above UNC. Self seems to be in prime position to be the face of college basketball for however long he coaches. I don’t think he coaches past 70. So at most he has 10 years left at Kansas.

It will be really interesting to see what Scheyer and Davis do. They both will feel the pressure if they don’t get a title within 5 years unless they’ve been to multiple final fours.
