Why are you comparing playing CBB, to the work world? Thats the better question. I played college baseball. The time I put in, thje work, etc, etc...was hard. And exhausting times. But its nothing compared to the real world, brother. Of course nothing is "free" so to speak. Hell I just got back from Florida(Ft. Walton), where I worked the 14U PG Gulf Coast World series. It was a "free" vacation, so to speak. Paid for my room, fed me, etc, etc...But I still had expenses---gas, eating, etc, etc... And I had to unpire 3-4 games a day---starting at 8am..So I do not undestand why you are trying to be so, well, "literal". Actually, I do. Its a reasoning tool. I get that. But its a terrible one. Its not like these kids are putting in 10/12 WORK days. Labor. COnstruction shit...They are going to class....then to practice. Then traveling via private charter, around the country. Eating very well...Leave on a Monday...Walk through Tuesday. Back to the hotel. Normally a very nice hotel...Leave for the arena 2 hours before tip...Play a game. Fly home. Rinse, repeat. Is that what you describe as labor---a job?
Lets do it this way----These kids are compensated quite nicely for their, ummmm, "labor". I ain't listing the amenities---again. But, well, lets just say, it ain't some labor farm in China, bro.
