4 was my least favorite. That's when they tried to be COD instead of Halo. It had supply drops and loadouts and shit. Just didn't feel like a Halo game. Hopefully this next one goes back to classic Halo.

oh dude, you can totally play the original online. I have my kids, when we study western expansion, play the shit out of that game. I actually make them take notes and do a little faux diary of their trip, based on their game. Lots of people dying of cholera and dysentery:)

Which is crazy to me, given you are such a Superman fan.

I think the Marvel movies have a few things that really work for them.

First is just really high production values.

Second is that they really nail the humor.

Third, they do well in making sure there is some character development and interaction among the big action scenes (and they have the advantage of having many movies to spread it over, for arcs like Captain America and Iron Man.)

Fourth, they have had a consistent hand guiding them, which has ensured some connectivity and consistency.

Finally, and I think this is the biggest thing... they have had an INCREDIBLE cast of actors, who bring a ton of charisma to the roles. How many Academy award winners or nominees have been in them? Kate Blanchett, Robert Downey Jr, Michael Douglas, Jeff Bridges, Anthony Hopkins, William Hurt, Tommy Lee Jones, Ben Kingsley, Robert Redford, Natalie Portman, Marisa Tomei, Sam Rockwell, Benicio Del Toro, Brie Larson, Lupita Nyong'o, Gwen Paltrow, Tilda Swinton, Forest Whitaker, Bradley Cooper, Glenn Close, Annette Benning, Michelle Pfieffer, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Sly Stallone, and on and on and on... 56 different Marvel actors have either won an Oscar or been nominated for one, and I mean even several voice over people (Jen Connelly, Taika Waititi) have Oscars. And that isn't including CRAZY charismatic guys like Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, and Chris Pratt. I think that that simple quality comes through in the movies, you know?

So I think that is why, basically, they've done so well. Personally, I think they turned out awesome. There were some stinky ones... Captain Marvel was eh, Guardians 2 was terrible, and a few others were okay... but shit, Infinity War and Endgame handled an impossible task of bringing together dozens of characters and paying off a 12 year set of stories while satisfying the audience, and it absolutely crushed it.

BTW, I was thinking about your question, about fav. super hero... I honestly am not sure, but maybe Wolverine? I don't know.

And why Superman? I always thought Superman could be really boring, just because he was always just... good, you know?

I definitely agree about the actors. I'm a big fan of a lot of them even though I don't watch the movies.

I have always been a Superman fan. Since I was a kid. My cousin and I chose sides early, he was Batman and I was Superman. Its not so much to me about the hero himself, more about what he stands for. He's a good guy that cares about people, and just happens to be the strongest guy in the world. Whats not to like?

This is one of my favorite pages from Superman comics of all time.

You ever read Dark Knight Returns? Holy shit awesome. Dark and well written. And it was the original Batman vs Superman story.

I didn't mind the way they set up Superman in that newer movie, Man of Steel I think it was? Didn't love the movie, but I liked how they set him up as a drifter, going from place to place, and having to leave when he saved someone? That was a cool take.

Guardians 2 was terrible? How high are you? It wasn't as good as the first (my favorite standalone Marvel movie) but it was still really good.

Agree about Captain Marvel being meh, Black Panther was good but not as good as people made it out to be, and Ironman 2-3 were pretty awful.

Thor Ragnarok was great and all of the avengers movies have been really good, the last 2 were amazing.

Oh, I thought it was totally unwatchable. They basically tried to make every character MORE than the one before. Gamorra was MORE tough. Rocket was MORE cranky. Drax was MORE laughing and not always understanding The crazy action scenes were MORE. And that stupid "Baby Groot" thing... blech. Yeah, I thought it sucked... it felt the most "Hollywood doing a BIGGER BETTER sequel" of them. I do agree that the first one was FANTASTIC.

I thought Black Panther was awesome. I agree about Iron Man 3, but I actually liked the duo of Sam Rockwell (Hammer) and Micky Rorke (Whiplash)... Rockwell in particular was just such a POS, I enjoyed him. Not one of the better Marvel movies, but...

Ragnarok was ****ing AWESOME. Action, humor, Blanchett was EXCELLENT as Hela... everything about that movie rocked. And yeah, all of the Avenger movies were great.

Agree that IM 2 and 3 were bad. So was the 2nd Avengers IMO. I havent watched 3 or 4. I like the DC universe more.

Assuming you’re talking about the movie universe. I wish DC was better but it isn’t even close.

I’m prolly the only one but I don’t really like none of the new Marvel/DC movies.

I know they’re a little older but I liked the Tim Burton Batman movies and the 2000’s Spider-Man movies.

I liked the old Tim Burton Batman movies as well, problem is they aren't part of the current DC universe. Aquaman was pretty good, wonder woman was as well, beyond that the DC universe has been a dumpster fire.

The reason the Marvel universe is so successful is because they have one guy at the top coordinating all the stand alone movies and how they all tie together. The movies are basically huge budget episodes of a season of Marvel culminating with an Avengers finale.

Yep Marvel actually has a plan and each chapter ends with an Avengers movie. DC needs to get their heads out of their asses.

Dude. So hot. She is so hot I struggle to even fantasize about her, because even in my fantasies I couldn’t land that woman.

One of my best friends actually knows her fairly well. Their kids are in class together, have been for years, they do play dates and shit. I’m like... wtf.

DK trilogy are the GOAT superhero movies, but they aren’t part of the DC Universe that they are putting together.
