In mid-August. One of the many amazing stats about the historically good 2018 Boston Red Sox. They're currently on pace to win 115 games. The poor Yankees have won 6 out of their last 7 and still lost a half game in the division standings over that time frame. Sox are just the best team in the league by a wide margin at this point.

Really wish the Phillies had gone after Martinez harder. They could have had him in a corner OF position meaning they didn’t have to overpay Carlos Santana 20 mil for 3 years to 1) hit .215 and 2) block Rhys Hoskins who is a 1B and not a LF. 5 years and 135 million probably gets the deal done over the Sox 5 years and 110.

Great signing by the Sox. He’s a value in modern baseball at 22 mil a year and he’s locked in for 4 more years after this one.

Wish we could get him and Mookie co-MVP's.

Only matters what you do in the post season. And of all the sports, MLB is the most prone to post season upsets.

Yep. I witnessed Cliff Lee blow the only 3 run lead in 4 years and something like 110 starts. I watched Roy Halladay throw at fluke trash Cody Ross’s bat and get his average ass paid. Anything can happen in a 7 game series.

Yep. The Indians were like what, 48-6 to end the season last year? And then we're promptly bounced.

good thing the giants went after mccutchen to save a few bucks... would have hated to actually see a team with a pulse

I’m glad to hear you say that because we’re stuck with Carlos for 2 more. The .215 doesn’t bother me as much as the fact that when there’s runners on and the team needs a big hit, he pusses out and looks for a base on balls. His typical plus game for the Phils this season has been 0-2 with 2 base on balls. Need more from a middle of the order guy. It doesn’t help that Hoskins looks like the real deal and he should be at 1B. Not sure why the Phils signed a 1B this past off season.

I liked him at Cleveland but he's not worth 20/year, for 3 years. Plus it meant Alonso came over.

I still can't believe he played for my Diamondbacks last year.

Philly will be getting some 'pop' behind the plate here in a few more days.
Ramos is coming off the DL, and should provide solid O and D.

It’s sorely needed. 2-4 on this West Coast trip including 1-2 vs the Padres.

85-35 is an amazing record to have in mid August. To further the OP's point, Martinez also has more home runs than the Royals and Orioles do wins (35).

The Orioles have the same number of wins as the Red Sox do losses. That's insane in baseball.

I heard during the Cubs game last night that the Royals lost their 35th game in mid May... three months ago!

After their sweep of Baltimore, the Sox are now 49.5 games ahead of the O's. I wonder what the record is for that number.
