We shot an MP-5, it has settings and auto is one of them. You pull the trigger and the bullets start flying.I am assuming you are talking about a fully automatic gun, not a AR-15 type, if so no, but would love to. I own a AR-15 and enjoy shooting it, but it will eat ammo real quick if you choose to hammer it, I would hate to buy the ammo for a full auto, if you could find them.![]()
I use to feel the same way. I still refuse to go hunting, but I enjoy going to the range and shooting. We have a bunch of different types targets and it makes it fun in a competitive way.No, but I've never shot much of anything. Shot a pistol a few times and that's about it. I have nothing against guns. They just don't interest me. In fact, when my father passed I gave his 16 gauge and 12 gauge to my boy, who does a lot of hunting. I just had no interest in them for myself.
I have no idea what age or version it was. But, it was a hoot to shoot. I haven't seen you on here lately Buford, I hope you're well? They designed a new MP-5 when I was in the USMC. Even being in Aviation Ordnance I am familiar with a lot of the Ordnance that came through the USMC/USN in the 80's and 90's. Even the small arms.
99.9% chance you fired the older version.

The gun we shot uses 9mm ammo. Normally, I only shoot pistols. I prefer to shoot .22 because it has minimal recoil. The big cal bullets beat me up.Shot one back in '99 or '00 at the Knob Creek machine gun shoot. Used to go every year. I could by 1000 rounds of 7.62x39 for $75 back then. Wish I had invested in more ammo at a young age; that isht is heavy though.
It's not funny CDbearde. You shoot a box of 45 cal and your arm feels like jelly. The gun we shot uses 9mm ammo. Normally, I only shoot pistols. I prefer to shoot .22 because it has minimal recoil. The big cal bullets beat me up.
LOL, I have a 7mm mag hunting rifle, a 300 Weatherby mag, or a 12 gauge 3.5 mag if you want to feel recoil, they get brutal for an old man like me. But I understand, just having fun with you. It's not funny CDbearde. You shoot a box of 45 cal and your arm feels like jelly.
I am actually a very good shot now. I can shoot the big .45's, but a box of them will wear me out.@della
Tell me that this isn't you young lady, you said that you like shooting pistols, but prefer the 22 because of recoil, sometimes you learn from experience. LOL 😂 😂 😂 😂
I don't have a 22 pistol anymore, traded my Ruger and gave my daughter my Smith & Wesson, semi auto's, I have 38's 357 mag's, and 44 in revolvers, in semi's it's 40 and 45. They are Ruger, Smith & Wesson on revolvers and Glock on semi's, I don't shoot anymore because the ammo is hard to find because of people hoarding, times are really weird. I am glad to hear that you enjoy shooting, it's very fun to go to the shooting range or the farm and enjoy.I am actually a very good shot now. I like to shoot target pistols, mostly .22s, but I have a 9mm too.
At all the family gatherings at the in-laws we shoot skeet, and the wife loves large caliber bullets. I'm sure she misses them.I don't have a 22 pistol anymore, traded my Ruger and gave my daughter my Smith & Wesson, semi auto's, I have 38's 357 mag's, and 44 in revolvers, in semi's it's 40 and 45. I would have never thought it would be fun, but it is.I don't have a 22 pistol anymore, traded my Ruger and gave my daughter my Smith & Wesson, semi auto's, I have 38's 357 mag's, and 44 in revolvers, in semi's it's 40 and 45. Me either, now every time we visit I bring a box full of skeet.I would have never thought it would be fun, but it is.
I have shot skeet a few times, and it is very enjoyable, I would like to do it again when all this ammo shortage stops. At all the family gatherings at the in-laws we shoot skeet, and the wife loves large caliber bullets. I'm sure she misses them.
My FIL makes a lot of his own. He keeps all the casings and he has a building where he reloads. He does a lot of hunting trips across N. America. I don't know much about guns, but he has one rifle that is obscene. That had a kick.I have shot skeet a few times, and it is very enjoyable, I would like to do it again when all this ammo shortage stops.
The people that has hoarded the ammo up is now selling it on line at a mark up, we need to not buy a round from them and wait until the ammo companies catch up and let the hoarders lose there butt!!!
Edit: You have to love a woman that likes a large caliber.![]()
I hope. Like I said above, I hope they lose their butts when trying to sell it. But as of now they are selling it at raised prices with ease. I have not checked in the last 2 weeks but the 40 CAL and 223 that I looked at was a dollar a piece. What do y'all think about the shortage of ammo? I think it is dumb, people hoarding, but not shooting means that we all these hoarders get full the price of ammo will crash.
The definition of an educated person is one that knows something about a lot of things. You sound like someone that has been hurt in the past by a lack of knowledge in certain areas. If so, it would be wise to consider that the lack of knowledge of said subject did not hurt you. It was mean spirited people that hurt you. The knowledge was benign.Definitely not a hobby that stuck from boy scout merit badges. Nothing better than running into someone from high school who always called school "gay" and now they think technical firearm knowledge is like an interesting thing people who've read books care to hear about.
Or Auto Trader for guns is a lame hobby for an adult. The definition of an educated person is one that knows something about a lot of things. Auto traders for guns? What does that even mean?Or Auto Trader for guns is a lame hobby for an adult.

"Things they believe about themselves", like what? There are, at least in Iowa, an abundance of gun people who talk about guns as often and as casually as a gearhead talks about 70s and 80s cars listed for sale in Auto Trader. The difference is there is a spiritual component to it for a lot of the gun people that is mostly absent with the car people. The things they believe about themselves is just baffling to me.

Aren't they more prepared to defend themselves against a physical assault with a gun than without a gun? They are prepared to defend themselves because they have guns is the main one
Aren't they more prepared to defend themselves against a physical assault with a gun than without a gun?
That seems more common sense than spiritual.
I know y'all are in the middle of all that corn in Iowa. Does corn figure into this any, cause that could explain a lot?
Seems like you don't have a problem with guns, 2nd amendment, home defense (gun) or hunting.Anyone who buys anything other than a shotgun for home defense.... the last person that gun is ever going to kill is an intruder. Just how it is in reality. Those are the people who want to show you their guns and talk about guns and talk about the 2nd amendment (lol).
I also get a kick out of the people who think they're just part of the natural order of things when they blast a buck with a 12 gauge slug (and that I'm a pussy who can't feed my family because I have no interest). I'm glad people pick off deer here, but anyone using anything other than a bow to hunt deer who wants me to consider him or her "sporting" or whatever can lick my nutz. There is a lot of overlap in the Venn diagram of 2nd Amendment experts, would-be gunsmiths, and pious hunters.
