True or not that doesn’t guarantee 1st team. Sometimes really damn good players and NBA talents don’t make first team. The conference has a lot of talent.

Partly, yeah. There’s no other guard who projects higher, or has his skill set/measurables. He has all the tools and will make first team.

His measurables aren’t even that great lol. 6’4” is not a big guard in the NBA. There many other guards with superior height in the big ten. As for skill set, he’s a terrible 3pt shooter and it isn’t like he is an elite finisher or anything like that. He could have a big year, but there are many other guards in the Big Ten who are bigger and have a more proven skill set.

6’4 is fine height for an point guard, which is where he projects in the league. That’s bigger than Paul, Irving, Lowry, Conley, Curry, Young, Morant, etc.
But just because he projects higher as a draft prospect doesn’t mean he will get college awards.
Franz Wagner is the highest projected pick in the B1G this year. Yet he was on the second team for all-conference.
They’ll make the Ben Affleck 1st team.
His combo of height and athleticism is not matched in the league. This has been stated 100 times. He took time to settle into things as a freshman but shot pretty well from 3 during last stretch of games. He also proved he was more than capable on summer circuit as well.
His athleticism and size puts him at a point guard in the league.
NBA teams draft based on upside. His shooting and ballhandling will improve with time.

Maybe not “elite” but he’s a pretty damn good finisher lol. Shot over 50% from 2 last year.

Over 50% from 2 is not exactly impressive or something rare for a guard. Many guards in the Big Ten shot better from two are FAR better from 3.

Skills are something that get worked on. Westbrook was even more raw in his days at UCLA yet teams saw the potential.
I figure Wieskamp is gone. Wiggins would be 4-5. Either way Weiskamp is in that second tier

Lol Ivey isn’t in the same universe as Westbrook athletically. He won’t last long in the league if he is trying to be a PG. Then again, as a Purdue alum, he likely won’t last long in the league anyways.

Darren Collison was the point guard. He played similarly to Ivey where he would get the ball down the stretch.
This was a major criticism of his game before he made it in the league.
