*Official* B1G Off-season Thread

Yes.

Fargo is another decent series.

Better Call Saul is very good, funny.

Fargo was great the first 2 seasons but then shit started getting too weird and we lost interest.

Imo Breaking bad is the best show ever! I loved Better call Saul the first season, but every season since I've lost excitement for it.

Another show I haven't seen mention here...has anyone else watched Cobra Kai? I was amazed at how great the first season was.

Crean always got beat up after being the first to offer as well. Him and Painter always offered way too early. If anything that puts more eyes on the kid and lets coaches slip in later on. Archie has been a nice breath of fresh air with his approach to offering players. I think Painter could wait it out as well. If you are honest with the player, stay in contact, and have a good read on the situation when you offer shouldn't matter.

This situation is a bit different since Nnaji is blowing up the summer before their senior year. Brooks and TJD both have been known commodities for alongwhile
Normally I'd agree but Painter isnt great at selling Purdue to elite recruits. I think he still needs to offer early because there have been situations where he waited too long to offer and kids got bitter about it.

Most Purdue fans think he is usually too honest to recruits, and sometimes needs to sugar coat things more, in order to land them. His recruiting method is a gambit, because 5* kids don't want to be told that they have to play defense, work hard, etc. or they won't play (obviously this is true of most schools they might go to, so it's unnecessaryto point out IMHO).

No flame, but what did Robinson develop while at UM? Most of his stats / advanced stats actually went down, year by year. It seems like his insanely hot shooting in Summer League (63% from 3) is why he got that 2-way contract

Going to touch on this again since IUtownBB did a drive by post.

It’s hard to know how much Robinson improved at Michigan because we don’t know what type of player he was when he got there. In the year Charles Matthews had to sit he went from spotty bench minutes to leading Michigan to a national championship game. There’s reason to believe that by the time Duncan Robinson stepped on the court st Michigan he had already developed a lot from his arrival due to sitting out a year.

Over the final three years his offensive numbers took a small hit, but I don’t think he was worse offensively. He did miss more open looks than in the past (it felt) but Michigan also didn’t have the drive and kick the Duncan had with LeVert year 1.

Even if he was slightly worse offensively, he was much better defensively.

I never understood the thinking that most Purdue fans have of Painter. I am constantly hearing from Purdue boards about how he is this unrealistic moral coach. I'm not saying he is doing anything illegal, but he does the same type of stuff that every other coach does. I'm sure during Creans last 4 or 5 seasons there was a lot of negative recruiting against him.

I think BCS is already a top-10 drama of all-time and has consistently gotten better each season. Really looking forward to season 4 starting up.
As a chemist who loved watching breaking bad: better call Saul is better. And BB was a phenomenal show, probably in my top 10-15 shows all time, but BCS is top 5 for sure.

Don’t agree with the 5* thing at all. That is just a bad excuse. Maybe some of the top 5 or 10 players don’t want to hear that but those aren’t the players Painter is going after in the first place.

Romeo is gurranteed to start but that is because he is already the best player on the team. Archie didn’t promise him he wasn’t going to play defense or work hard. If you don’t play defense you sit in Archie’s system.

I've got a question for the Purdue fans.. I'm seeing a lot of excitement for this year and it seems a lot of fans are thinking that there wont be a huge step backwards this year. When you all lost so much last year what am I missing? I really think that you all are going to struggle next year.

Theres some interesting players on the team that have nice potential. But besides Carson, it's all unknown going in.

Not a Purdue fan but your next to last sentence. Loads of potential and it’s the off-season. Also Carson is pretty damn good. He needs to prove it while not having the four seniors around but I personally would be shocked if he doesn’t lead the league in scoring.

I am not as high on them but I get why there is optimism.

I can understand the optimism for the next few years as a whole. But if you go to their site theres countless people saying that its going to be a top 3 finish for them.

I agree about everything you said about Carson.

I mean I don't actually know what goes on when Painter talks to recruits, but our premium rivals content guys always get quotes about how kids "loved his honesty" which we have interpreted to mean he is often too blunt. Could be completely wrong but again this is stuff we base off of quotes from recruits interviewed by the GBI folks.

Regardless, he isn't a good enough recruiter to wait to offer kids, especially in state kids - many of whom usually grow up wanting to play at IU. He's got to offer pretty early at least to have a shot.

Don't believe everything you read on the free board of any fanbase, especially in the off season...

Purdue will be in the top half of the conference. Where exactly, I don't know, but a top 3 finish would be pretty impressive given what was lost.

He has been and will continue to. I’ll lose to Purdue twice in the regular season every year if it means winning the conference tournament title and making the final 4.

When you’re a Purdue fan you set your goals a little lower apparently.
Absolutely feel the same. They can win as many regular season games as they want. I’d rather have success in the tournaments. Purdue guys can keep those head to head records. Lol!

Quit being a little bitch. My wife is in Chemo I have more important things to worry about then some guy on a message board.

Can you show me a post where someone has said there won't be a step back? Because most every Purdue fan expects a step back from last year.

dude, it's just another troll. Thread has gone to shit. Breaking bad stuff is awesome tho
I really wasn't trying to troll and actually went out of my way to word it in a way to make sure it didn't sound like it. Is it possible that you're just a tad bit sensitive today?

Even more praise coming out about Aaron Henry. Says dude might end up being a starter this year at the 3. He is extremely aggressive with a nice shot and can attack the basket well. Pretty athletic. Just all around pretty good.

Weird that you're still here regardless of your wife in chemo. Just sayin.

Hope things go well with your wife.

Currently, theres a prediction thread on purdue's free board that has many people saying that they will finish in top 5 next year. And even a few are saying #1

Since the BIG was down last year, it's not unreasonable to think that a #5 finish wouldn't be a huge step back from last year.

I'm seriously not trying to throw a jab with my question. I genuinely was wondering if there was something I missing since I don't follow them.

Get this actual basketball shit out of here. We are trolling today. ;)
