I'm not the person you were talking to, but I believe an assistant coach on the staff has a connection or friendship with the family.

I'm new here, but a couple of things I'd like to point out...

1st. Some of your alls meme skills are top notch. I've gotten a bunch of laughs lurking in the background.

2nd. I seriously didn't think it was possible for multiple people who are able to hide behind a screen to be able to maintain a for the most part respectable forum like you all have. Seriously, much respect to everyone here for doing it!

Over the past month, I've had a lot of enjoyment keeping up with this thread. I tried to post a month ago, but kept getting the notice that I have to wait to make another post. So eventually I just gave up.

@Kevin Bryan fix his post restriction please. Guy seems cool.

Would love to know why you think he is a massive OSU homer?
I don't get the sense that he's a massive homer, but he is definitely partial to OSU, which is not surprising considering his past. Just the way he covers things, it's obvious.

I think we are past him allowing any other school getting in. He isn't playing this evaluation period and will probably decide by the end of next week.

Haven’t paid attention for awhile now. Mine was purely hypothetical.

Can you show one example where he’s been partial? Between Rivals,Scout and now 247 I can’t think of one time where he’s written one line that would lead anyone to believe he likes Osu basketball.

Also your senses regarding Carton and his visit to OSU seem correct

And while I do think it is good for a kid to do the right thing, it is kind of shitty Holtmann and probably some of his staff will not be out recruiting since a kid is on a visit they probably have zero chance of getting.

I don't track everything he says. Next time something comes up I'll post it

Especially since Ohio State is by far the most in need of a PG of the three contenders and they basically stopped recruiting a few other PG’s they might have had a chance with.

This isn’t a very deep class for PGs either. Archie would like to sign one as well. If Carton goes elsewhere this probably turns into another CG class with IU. Phinisee will just be a sophomore so IU isn’t “empty” at the position but stacking good point guards with elite ones is what I want to see

Snow is butt buddies with the miller brothers, he’s a fan of whoever they are coaching.

Sounds like Arizona is going to be the school to beat with Zeke Nnaji. Doesn't look that great for Minnesota or Wisconsin. Kid has really blown up over the past year. Tough to turn down the big $$$$ from Zona.

As usual, UW is first one to identify or offer these kids, then they blow up, and we're all like....

I thought you got a good one this year?

Ohio State hasn’t signed a HS PG since 2015 and he only stayed a year. This season there is only one PG on the roster who’s eligible and he’s a Senior. Have a transfer who is sitting out this year..... and that’s it

No. I'm not worried. This has been happening for years. You lose way more than you win in recruiting.

If he can have a bounce back year, this year I think he will be fine. Another piss poor year with the remaining Bo players he could be in trouble. I mean Rutgers had a better recruiting class last year.

If I worried about our recruiting class rankings, I'd want to off myself.

We were in on Wahl early and got him committed for '19. #95 in 247 composite. Right in our wheelhouse. I doubt he blows up as much as Carton or Nnaji but he should be a solid 4 year player. I know the staff feels good about their standing with Nnaji, but fans are skeptical. He's basically our only target right now. We certainly have a different approach to recruiting. It is frustrating to fans. I don't really give too many shits anymore. We'll get who we get.

The bold is great way to look at it. Easier said than done for sure.

Is Gard using the exact same style and "system" as Bo? Obviously he learned a ton for him, wasn't sure if he was changing thing to fit him better.

Its tough having a B1G job be your first ever head coaching job.

Purdue fans know that pain all too well*.

*See: Brooks, Keion & Jackson-Davis, Trayce

Crean always got beat up after being the first to offer as well. Him and Painter always offered way too early. If anything that puts more eyes on the kid and lets coaches slip in later on. Archie has been a nice breath of fresh air with his approach to offering players. I think Painter could wait it out as well. If you are honest with the player, stay in contact, and have a good read on the situation when you offer shouldn't matter.

This situation is a bit different since Nnaji is blowing up the summer before their senior year. Brooks and TJD both have been known commodities for alongwhile

Just read a brand new write up on him and there is no mention of Zona and that he is still WIDE open.

Snow who hates Michigan evens admits um leads for carton

He has said that since May. That isn’t new he also leaves it open. I did ask him with Michigan being a leader now what can sway the needle to the others. Interested in his answer.

Saying Snow hates UM is dumber than saying he likes OSU

He was with Bo for 20+ years. I think he’s more open to change though. Only time will tell. He actually went back to basic swing the first half year after we were 9-9 and Bo had just left. Happ brought the ball up a bunch last year. He’ll work with what he has. That’s on the basketball side. On recruiting we seem to be very selective and stingy with offers, not too unlike with Bo. But Gard was lead recruiter for years under him. Like you said he’s a rookie head man at a top 25 program last couple decades. Not the easiest following Bo either.
