***Official B1G In-Season Thread***

Most fans don’t know shit. They are clueless. Saw the same things a month ago. Win and ignore the idiots.
It’s amazing how many fans wanted underwood fired after this year. And I’m talking in the last month and a half. We live in a microwave society where we all want instant gratification.

Don’t want that 8 seed though, am I right?

Fvck no. 8 seed is the worst seed in the entire tournament. We’re looking at a 5-6 seed if the season ended today

If we finish up 2-2 I’d think we could avoid it

Any one deal with this type of delusional trash on your homeboard?

"Archie is a lousy piece of shot coach. His teams play with no heart or passion and choke every ******** time in the clutch. Just a bunch of chokers. Knights teams never did that. People got on him for being hard on his players in practice, but they we prepared and come thru in the clutch. Only the pansies like Neil Reed, Luke Recker, and Jason Collier who couldn’t step up left.

Our players are not getting any better. None of his recruits have improved and most have regressed. Can’t even execute the fundamentals like FT shooting and passing. He is in over his head and the time has come to kick his sorry **** to the curb.

Don’t care if we lose Lander. If he was so highly rated and good, why weren’t the big boys like Duke, UK, UNC etc recruiting him. Probably because he is not that good.

In an ideal world we could fire Archie and release the entire team and start over. None of the current roster is worth keeping.

OKC is going to rebuild and a perfect time to go after and get Billy the Kid. Need a proven coach to lead our program, not a mid-major hack like we have now.

I have endure 20 urs of ******* basketball and I am tired of it. Until Archie is gone I will be rooting for UK and Duke. Sorry so long."

Shocker they are from New York

Not as brutal as that, but Holtmann was getting ripped on homeboard when OSU started 2-6 in conference and lost 4 straight. Now that OSU has won 8 of 10, same posters suddenly post how good the hire was.

We still had Purdue fans dogging Painter after we went 1st, 2nd and 1st in the conference the last three years. They shut up a bit after the Elite Eight run but were right back at it when Purdue lost it's first game this year.

just the messenger, repeating a poster on the premie board. Untangle your panties
Repeating it or not, still doesn't make it any more true. Lol.

Might want to take a different approach like @boiler1987. He (basically) says Painter knew he wouldn't have a great shot so why waste time. Nothing wrong with that approach and it seems plausible. Your repeated message sounds like nothing more than sour grapes.

Yeah, even if that story is true, it doesn't change the fact that Purdue was never going to be a real factor for Lander. Same with Romeo - it's probably true that Painter stopped recruiting him a year or so before committing to IU, but not because he wasn't interested in having him at Purdue. Seeing the writing on the wall can be just as valuable for a recruiter as knowing who to target.

It’s truly embarrassing how dumb and emotionally short sided some of the folks are on GBI. I have 0 patience for them.

Wisconsin is winning without Kobe King. Ohio State is winning without DJ Carton. Kind of weird. I don't want to say addition by subtraction. But, maybe it is?

Agreed. Painter seems to know the exact type of guys he needs and that's who he goes after. I'm talking talent & cultural fit. At least it seems that way. Not every kid is gonna fit into that type that Painter is looking for. For whatever reason, Lander didn't seem to fit that mold, which is totally fine. Painter obviously has had success getting his "type" of guys. Some highly rated, some not so much, but they still work.

Really like Carton and IMO he’s going to be really good, but no doubt playing the other 3 guards consistently and them not looking over their shoulder has really helped OSU come out of their funk.

I shit on Gard more than most here. Gotta give him credit. He's turned what looks like a group of average+ players into a cohesive unit that's playing well.

Really impressive what Gard's done. If Maryland drops a game, which is very possible, they have a legit shot at winning a share of the Big Ten crown.

That was the story of Purdue's '15-16 season on the wing. Early on, Painter was splitting the minutes at the 2 between Kendall Stephens, Dakota Mathias, and Ryan Cline. That team - and those players - really never clicked until the rotation got cut to just Mathias and Cline.

And similar to the OSU situation this year, that decision was forced by a personal event that had Stephens step away from the team for a bit, rather than a coaching epiphany.

Shooting well makes everything look better. We shot like shit for 2 months. Ball movement has been better too. We didn't shoot well last night but only had 5 turnovers.
