@hawkit3113 you’ve been vindicated. Illinois student section tried to impersonate Illinois boys and girls club to get a discounted ticket block. What losers.

Lol, they buy tickets under random organizations’ names, otherwise pussies like the Iowa AD would not sell them in a block. But the Orange Krush itself is a charity organization that raises thousands each year (the only student section like that in the conference to my knowledge). Let’s not act like putting a random org’s name on the ticket order is like defrauding some charity, lmao. 😂 This is another in a long line of efforts of Iowa to keep Illini fans out of their arena because they’re rightfully embarrassed at how many always show up.

Then why use the Boys and Girls Club?

You people care pathetic

Pussy.

That's not a rivalry. A rivalry is when you promise the other school tickets, then invalidate them so they lose their refund on their charter service, blahahaha.
I will agree with you here, though … we won’t be circle jerking about how great ~the rivalry~ is between now and Saturday because I hate you guys too much for that kinda thing. 😉

Exactly. They have been doing it for years.

Game over you Illinois dirt bags.

I cant wait to kick the fvck out of them on Sat
The orange crush try to be sneaky about this shit. They did it last year at Mackey. All of them wear Purdue gear then they reveal themselves once they score the first basket. Why don’t they just come out of the closet already?

Why be so secretive and say it was for the boys and girls club?

To be fair, that was more dumb/short-sighted than malevolent. The actual name they used does not exist, as I understand it, but it’s unfortunately close to the real charity in Iowa. As for being secretive … didn’t Iowa just prove why that’s a necessity? They would not have sold the 200 tickets to “the Orange Krush.”

What were the Krush thinking with that tweet? How would they not know it'd come back in their faces... Massive W for Iowa.
It's something that will be forgotten (except on message boards) by tomorrow afternoon.
I'm guessing whoever bought the tickets didn't tell everyone in the Krush how they bought them and so whoever is operating the social media assumed they didn't impersonate an after school non-profit to do it.

It's always fascinating to see the rationalization.

Or they could have just bought 200 tickets without scamming for a discount?

I don’t give a shit. Trying to buy tickets under the guise of a boys and girls club is pathetic.
How so? How does this hurt the Boys and Girls Club or Iowa CC? It’s red herring that naïve people are falling for.

The discount was for groups over 20. There was no discount for a charitable organization, and in any event, the Orange Krush is a charity.

They’re canceling because it’s the Orange Krush, and pretending there are other reasons. You’re tilting at windmills.

Nobody is saying the Orange Krush was being malevolent or trying to commit fraud. But you can't come out and make a big deal that Iowa denied you tickets. Only to have Iowa come out and say yea because you purchased them under the guise of being for the boy and girls club and not the student section.

Is it required to put in an organization? Why not use something generic?

The spin from Illinois fans has been so odd to watch. If you want to attempt purchasing the tickets under a fake name, fine. You don't use a legitimate nonprofit organization and pretend the tickets are going to underprivileged kids. And you definitely don't tweet some long sob story about it trying to make Iowa look like the bad guys without a single mention of this detail.

Iowa handled it about as perfect as possible, which is rare for their PR team.

Iowa pulls tickets from Illinois fan group ahead of game after it allegedly posed as Boys and Girls Club

The Illinois "Orange Krush" group was trying to go to the Illini's game against the Hawkeyes in Iowa City on Saturday.

At first, it appeared that the University of Iowa pulled tickets from an opposing school’s student fan group unprompted.
The story, however, got much stranger Wednesday night.

Illinois’ “Orange Krush” fan group called out the Iowa athletic department on Wednesday via Twitter after its tickets were canceled ahead of Saturday’s game between the Illini and Hawkeyes in Iowa City. Hours later, though, Iowa said the group had lied in order to purchase 200 tickets.
The “Orange Krush,” Iowa said, had posed as an Illinois chapter of the Boys and Girls Club.

“The Iowa athletics department became aware of a discounted group ticket order for the Iowa-Illinois men’s basketball game on behalf of an Illinois chapter of the Boys and Girls Club,” Iowa said in a statement. “In following up with that organization, it became clear this was not factual. When contacting the individual who made the original ticket order, they admitted to falsely ordering tickets under the non-profit organization.”
So, Iowa refunded the order and canceled those tickets. Instead, the Hawkeyes donated the tickets to the Boys and Girls Club of Cedar Rapids.
The situation started after the fan group posted an open letter claiming that Iowa invalidated the group’s tickets Wednesday, a move it said would end up costing them nearly $6,000 in lost travel arrangements. The letter made it seem like Iowa pulled the tickets only after realizing that a large group of Illinois fans were going to show up at Carver-Hawkeye arena for the game.

The Hawkeyes, however, apparently didn’t have to work very hard to prove this wrong. And if the ticket holder admitted to it, the original letter seems like a bold move to release.
Either way, the tickets will end up benefitting a group of kids Saturday.
Iowa enters the contest having won six of its last eight games. Illinois has won seven of its past eight.

Some get caught in the cross fire, might have to duck, but IU played their worst game of the year by far and only lost by 10 on the road.
Of course another way to look at it is Maryland played one of their worst games of the year and still won by 10.

The only win they have this year with a worse offensive efficiency was against Western Carolina. And the defensive efficiency against IU was middle of the pack for them.

Shooting 17 more fts will do that.

It's hilarious to me that the Orange Krush thought this was a good idea.
