The new Albany/Floyd sectional game was a complete snooze fest I thought tonight. It won’t let me respond to a poster who was there because apparently it’s tagged as “spam”.

I checked out the 2-4 quarters. Yeah game wasn’t anything great. Awesome atmosphere though. 8300 people. The regional next weekend there will be huge again. TJD and Romeo plus others
Yeah my group got there late so we were standing on school desks in one of the upper section corners the entire time. Was a great atmosphere, love that gym. It’s a shame Seymour is always so pitiful and it goes to waste during the year. But I do love it since I’m from their rivalry town haha.

Who you MSU slapjacks rooting for? Weve successfullly set up your worst nightmare. No real win for you either way.

You answered your own question I think. In the end though, I have nothing against Purdue. I have some close Purdue friends, and other than a few obnoxious posters on here I can't think of anything negative to say. Boiler Up!

Yeah I mean the Purdue - Michigan State “rivalry” is completely one sided and is like the Colts Patriots “rivalry” made up by one side of the two fan bases

I was happy to watch it on IHSAA miss going to good high school games

Get over the hard to beat a team 3 times casual fan narrative. That has nothing to do with tomorrow.

What has to do with tomorrow if Purdue cannot guard Mo VVagner and hes playing as well as any player in the country. He dump trucked Nick Ward sespite going o for his first 6 from 3.

Purdue has the same problems because Haas flat out cant guard Mo.
Mo might be playing well but Carson Edwards is flat balling...Mo is in his rear view.

I’ve said this before and really would not be shocked if someone decides to draft him. He is playing that freaking good man. Absolutely beasting. If Purdue makes a run this month with him balling like he is watch out. Respect the hell out of him

Tru dat. Bonus is he looks like he's having fun doing it. Obviously hoping the NBA tells him to go back and work on his game. That would make 2018-19 fun for Purdue fans regardless of a potential step backward.

It's how Floyd Central plays. Not really a snooze fest if you are a fan or either team; or live in the area. Two schools in the same school corp. Both ranked in the Top 5; New Albany #3, Floyd #5. Both with only one loss; New Albany's was to FC, 49-47 in OT. Just a very intense rivalry. And the atmosphere is insane. 8,000 plus fans.

Yeah I was there, a lot of stoppages in play/free throws and very little rhythm to the game. Think Romeo had 1 or 2 made baskets and the rest were free throws. Doubled or tripled every time he touched the ball.

Yeah, I watched it via IHSAAtv. It's what Floyd Central does-----kinda of the "Virginia" of highschool basketball. They were the one team that worried me. Their style scared me. They are built and coached to beat a team like New Albany.

Should be a great Regional next Saturday. You going?

Purdue opens at -3.5. A little surprised it is that much but the sharps have been doing that with Purdue for a month now.

This is what I was taking about. FC was well coached and did a great job denying RL the ball, and forcing NA to run their offense near midcourt. It was good basketball. NA did a nice job using their athleticism speed up FC in the 4th quarter.

From the Big Ten site: "Big Ten tournament an indisputable success
Here's a fact: Saturday's Michigan State-Michigan/Purdue-Penn State doubleheader marked the first time in four years that a Big Ten session sold out of tickets."

I think there might just be a future for more b1g tourneys in nyc....

What are the TV ratings? That's where the money is. I agree that it has been a success with the exception of being a week early.

for those that are more into these stats a little help please about what are good and which are bad
PER Garza 26.5 good or bad?
WS per 40 Garza .188 good or bad
BPM [Box +/-] Garza 6.3 good or bad
offensive rating Garza 126.6 good or bad
defensive rating Garza 108.7 good or bad

any honest response as I have no clue,

Garzas numbers are awesome. Compare his D rating to everyone else on lowa to get an idea of whether he was one of Iowas better players on defense for Iowa.

Baer 106.8
Kriener 108.4
Nunge 108.5
Garza 108.7
these are the [I am guessing are the top 4]

this is why I am asking if these are good/bad or avg.

this is the lone SR and his numbers
Uhl 16 games 4.6 mpg, .3 ppg, 1.1 rpg, 0.4 apg,
barring anyone leaving his production should be easily replaced and he didn't do much in the SR leadership department.

Baer 106.8
Kriener 108.4
Nunge 108.5
Garza 108.7

Well Iowas defense in general was awful so its unlikely one of Iowas players is going to have a good d rating, which is essentially the amount of points opponents score per 100 possessions when a player is on the court.

Jaren Jackson JR, for example, has a Drtg of 86.0 and 2 other MSU starters have 99.4 (cash winston)and 102.6(josh langford) so its safe to deduce that when hes on the court teams struggle to score and when hes off the court teams score alot more.

don't suppose Iowa playing a more up tempo pace and scoring 80 ppg had anything to do with it do you. the better a team is offensively also means the other team gets more chances to score vs a team that avg's 70 or less per game?
Iowa had a winning record when scoring 80+ points. winning 13 of their 14 games.

Those numbers are points per 100 possessions so it takes pace out of it completely.

There are uptempo teams who give up a ton of points per game who are better defensively than grind it out slow teams who give up less points per game.

I am not trolling Gil, I am just being honest - there is no honest way to try and paint Iowa as anything other than a very poor defensive team.

never said different.

Iowa's best defender was Baer this year and last. BUT he is a better 6th man than he is a starter.
Garza's upside is very high. both in scoring and defense. Bohannon played with a foot injury then when his foot was 90% he went from 11 steals in the 1st 26 games to 11 in the last 7 games bringing his total to 22 steals.

so Bohannon's defense improved after his foot healed up, with a summer of getting his foot to 100%, his defense will improve from this year to next. individually these were the top players in steals
RSJR Baer 27 steals in 27 games in 21.4 mpg
SO Bohannon 22 steals in 33 games in 31.8 mpg
RSOOMoss 22 steals in 33 games in 24.7 mpg
FR Nunge 21 steals in 33 games in 15.7 mpg
SO Cook 21 steals in 33 games in 28 mpg

now its just a matter of doing that as a team vs individually.

Serious question, has the Purdue program ever been in as good a position under Painter as it is right now?

I dont think so. Program is hitting on all Cylinders.

PURDUE

Have to breakthrough in the tourney. Purdue underachieves in March.

Last NCAA tournament game lost 98-66

Doesn’t win the regular season conference that is one of the weakest of all time.

2018 recruting class 41

Program is booming. Great group of seniors and an absolute stud sophomore though.

Yeah Purdue will take a sizable step back next year. They must make a deep tourney run this year. No excuses
