Bolden looks good and Allen needs to be the point.
Really would be nice if UVa could take care of Miami, but given that they blew their nut with the #1 ranking, I am expecting them to lay an egg.
Good bounce back win for UVA at Miami after the loss to VT. Now we get 8 days off before the 4 game stretch to end the regular season - GT, at Pitt, at Louisville, and ND
I know this makes UVA's loss look even worse but I'm actually loving watch Duke beat the absolute shit out of VT...and without Bagley. I really really hate VT.
I don't know why, but I liked this post.
Good win tonight. Helps us out.
Fsu rallies from a 13 point halftime deficit to take down Clemson in OT. We have pitt this weekend. If we can take care of business there then I think we get in with 1 more win.
FSU needed that win big time. Thanks for giving UVA even more separation at the top
ND clinging to life after Matt Farrell's 10, 3 pointers at Boston College. He started the game 9/9 from deep.
4 games left. Basically need to go 3-1 with home games left vs Miami and Pitt and road contests at Wake and Virginia. 9-9 in ACC play with Colson returning heading into the ACC Tournament... Would need to win 2 games there to get in on the bubble, IMO.
Fsu takes care o business against a pitt team that made it interesting for awhile. 19 wins and 8 conference wins. I think 2 more wins between the regular season and ACCT gets us in.
Really wish we hadn't lost that wake game.
So FSU has 3 conference games left and mathematically there is a greater than 3% chance we can finish in any spot between 3 and 11 in the final standings. No spot has more than a 17% chance.
Gonna be a crazy two weeks.
Did you hear why angola and Mann sat?
“Minor indiscretion” was the official word.
Through the grapevine I heard they went out with Bake and JI and missed curfew and/or late to team breakfast.
Cool. Seemed like something minor like that.
This is such a disappointing season for my Irish. Not disappointed in the players and effort, but because of what could’ve been.
These injuries really shattered any chance they had. Good game Miami.
If the Irish dropped 2-3 more, any talk of just trying to get a med-red for Bonzie? Or is he turning pro regardless?
I have no insider info. Just a fanatic. The selfish fan in me wants him back for at least 2 games before the ACCT, but honestly, with his abilities, I wouldn’t be upset if he hung it up at ND to be healthy for the draft or something along those lines. I would absolutely hate to see another “Jaylon Smith” scenario during games that don’t matter at all.
But seeing him courtside, it’s obvious he bleeds blue and gold - and will be back (this season). He’s gone after this season sadly. We'll miss him, but have an impressive set of recruits coming in.
In short - I see absolutely no scenario or talks of Bonzie coming back after this season.
Is he eligible for a medical red shirt? How many games did he play this season?
I didn’t follow closely enough after the Maui to know the exact number before he went down, but I do not believe he is eligible for a medical.
Speaking of medical redshirts, word on the street is Ham and Co are trying to petition for one for Phil Cofer.
He missed the majority of two seasons with injuries, though he was just over the 30% mark in both. One of them was 31% I believe. Would be a pretty big development if it happened, because FSU would then return all but one of their scholarship players next season.
UVA gets a sluggish win over GT and locks up the #1 seed in the ACC tourney
UVA demolishes Pitt and captures its 3rd regular season "crown" in the last 5 years.
When is the parade?
So tonight is Va Tech's senior night... hoping Duke spoils that in convincing fashion.
Sounds good to me. I want them sweating on Selection Sunday. Their NCSOS is abysmal. If they enter the ACCT at 9-9 in conference with a 341 NCSOS, they won't feel safe despite some marquee wins.
They'll shoot 70% from three tonight and **** Duke's eyes out.
They have some very good 3 point shooters but they haven't really shot the ball well in conference play or at home. I think VT is only 35% from 3 in ACC play. Their overall numbers are inflated by feasting on some terrible teams in the non-conference.
So ND has a chance to be 8-9 in league play with a win vs Pittsburgh... That's the good news considering they were missing Colson the entire ACC season and Farrell for more than half of it. They've also been missing DJ Harvey for more than a month as well.
The bad news is they have to go to Virginia to close the regular season, where they never win.
Does everybody agree that a 9-9 ND team, given what they've gone through, would get into the NCAA Tournament, but an 8-10 ND team would need to make it to the ACC Tournament Championship game (and maybe even win it) for the selection committee to give ND the nod taking into consideration that they were missing a 1st team All American and an All conference guard for all of / most of the ACC season?... 37 PPG ND was missing with those two starters out.
Brey is a good coach.
Is Colson coming back? If not I wouldn't put them in the tournament. If so that is a really terrible draw for whoever gets them as a 10 seed or whatever.
He is expected back in the starting lineup this week. If not for Pittsburgh, almost certainly for Virginia.
Blackshear just flings his body into guys begging for a foul... So far it is working.
Duke definitely didn't get all the calls in the first half. VT playing very physical defense, especially inside, 6 total fouls. It's not Kansas/WVU level but it's a rough road whistle.
I actually agree with you here. Thought the officiating was pretty one sided for VT.
How about the last call on Duval... Jesus.
Yep....didn't touch him lol
Nice tune up game for Colson in his return on senior night, in ND's scrimmage vs Pitt. The Irish are hanging on by a thread at 8-9 in the ACC and 18-12 overall. Colson looked like himself. He only played 21 minutes (he averages 35+) and recorded 12 points, 9 rebounds and 3 blocks in his first live action in 2 months.
The bad news is ND's chance to get to .500 in the ACC goes through #1 Virginia, on the road, on senior night in Charlottesville. ND always has a miserable time competing with Virginia, but they will need an exceptional performance to somehow steal a win and get themselves back on the bubble for the NCAA Tournament.
Question for the people here more knowledgeable than myself.
Does the committee show a little lenience with this Irish team because of the injuries all year and managing to somewhat weather the storm?
How far do you guys think they have to go in the ACCT to be looked at as a tourney team now that Colson is back?
I know it was against Pitt, but last night... their passing was truly elite. I don’t know if it was a combo of Colson and senior night hype, but Farrell and Co seemed a hell of a lot more comfortable with Colson back.
