Heard about this long ago. Dabo played for Stallings, and all those Alabama players saw a lot of John Mark, Stallings' special son. It made an impression on Dabo, and besides, he's a very good man as well as a very good coach from what I read.

As much as we like to think "The Enemy" good side is a sham, all fake veneer,.... Dabo is for real... He isn't perfect, but he IS genuine in the family and values areas... A genuinely nice guy that goes out of his way to do things like this that SHOULD be a bigger part of all of our programs....

Yep. Very proud to have him representing my school. Even if we never win another championship of any kind, he has done so much for us, and done it the right way on and off the field.

That said, he gonna bring another title home this year.;)

I've met him in a setting he had no need to put on airs.... He was very personable and decent to a stranger he had no reason to expect to see again. My nephew used to work on the School grounds crew. He has nothing but good things to say about him...

You may or may not have seen this one about Dabo.....

"Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney accepts scholarship of player who will likely never play a down. (The State)Considering that Nicolopulos will likely never suit up for the Tigers, that's saying something.

    http://blog.al.com/ray-melick/2010/02/clemson_adds_some_class_to_nat.html

Nicolopus committed to Clemson in February, 2009. But this past December, he suffered a stroke that left him unable to talk, walk, or write.

But after massive surgery and two months of therapy, Nicolopus had regained the ability to sign his name - and last Wednesday he did, on a National Letter of Intent that Clemson said it will honor[IMG].

"He'll be a part of this family,'' said Swinney, the Pelham native who played and coached at the University of Alabama."

I expect nothing less. I'm all Dawg but I like seeing these types of stories and hope they are a trend to come far and wide....

Our Dawgs have been very active in aiding the challenged since early on in the CMR Era.... My understanding is Coach Smart is continuing in this pursuit. It'd be wonderful if our, heck ALL schools, were as competitive in working in the community as they are on the field...

Goodness and kindness is not dead in this country, it’s just a bit more rare. UGA has been strongly supportive (way above any standard) of Devon Gales (Southern) for an opposing player that was injured (paralyzed I believe) several years ago. Now that is a damned good dawg.

My son's high school football team had a kid with Downs that was the team manager. The first football game they let him suit up. I think it was Nebraska that ran a play in a scrimmage to let a special needs kid score. Been done many times since. Anyway, that fall after Nebraska did it, our high school put Justin in the game and my son handed him the ball and he ran about 50 yards and scored. Both benchs cleared and ran to the end zone to celebrate. There wasn't a dry eye in the stadium especially mine. Maybe the coolest sporting moment I have witnessed.

    Dabo is a good dude.

You know, that's a good idea. It would be the opposite of the Fulmer cup.

I met this young man about 10 or 11 years ago. I went to Norcross HS with my friend who was the recruiting guy for a USC web site. We were going to meet Brice Butler and his parents to give them a USC media guide and to confirm he was committing to USC.

So we walk in the front door of the school and they have the school logo on the floor as you walk in, and me not knowing any better start to walk across it.

All of a sudden this kid starts yelling at me, “ you don’t step there, EVER. What is wrong with you?”

    I’m sorry, I didn’t realize

“ Well don’t let it happen again”

    I won’t, I promise.
