Recently looked back the a similar article from 2010. Good stuff. Almost as accurate as draft night grades.

I feel like the Pruitt hire is overrated, but time will tell.

I give the Ducks a D..Cristobal would not have been hired by any other top program..it was a premature panic move and they should have taken the opportunity to try to get better

I recall several articles crucifying USC for hiring Pete Carroll back in the day.

UCF probably wasn't even on this list 2 years ago. The same could be said for this list this year. The very best hire could end up being a no-name coach getting hired at a no-name school and turning their program around. Lets give it a couple years. With that being said, I'll take the A+

I have to wonder if Frost would have been an A+ hire for any other program. I mean, while he would have been a good hire anywhere, he was the perfect hire at the perfect time for Nebraska. I think even non-Husker fans recognize that.

    I would give it a B-

    A) His record at FIU is misleading. When he came in, FIU was the worst program in FBS and was in the worst situation. Within 2/3 years, he went to two bowl games.
    B) He coached under Saban and he was a fan
    C) Players and recruits love him

This is the thing. He is a wait and see. His floor could be low but his Ceiling is very very high IMO. Maybe even higher than Taggarts but its unknown.

The problem is there weren't really any good options at that point. There might be in a couple years.

Agree, with the right staff I think he could be very good. He can recruit, he has the respect of players, he comes across professional and has a good pedigree. I’m eager to see his era begin!

If he can control his little head and his mouth, this could end up being an A+. The dude knows his football and is one helluva recruiter.

Oregon is really the only questionable one. The rest generally make sense.

Considering what happened with Tennessee and Schiano, I think this is a home run hire.

Agree, Pruitt will be his own worst enemy or he'll drive himself to be a good one. He's the ultimate risk/reward.

Texas A&M and UCLA are the only two “A” or homeruns hires I see on the board.

Frost at Nebraska is going to bomb as well as FSU and MSU hires. Not too sold on Mullen at UF, but I don’t think he’s as bad of a hire as the ones I’ve listed.

What's your basis on Frost or Tagart bombing? Just curious.

    Nothing against the two coaches.

Frost isn’t going to get the same production out of his players as he did at UCF. Nebraska’s trading on its name not it’s ability to bring in recruits that will be able to challenge Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin, Michigan, Etc... Frost will have several 8-4 and maybe a 9 win season every several years or so, but unless Nebraska is going to be able to recruit and bring kids to play in bumble fu€k Egypt that’s not gonna happen.

As for FSU I personally believe they could have done better. Hell, less miles would have been a better hire. Tagart will win st FSU only because of the athlete and recruiting hotbed Florida State is located in or always get. I just don’t see Tagart winning the big games in the ACC.

Thanks for the reply, I respect your opinion; but hope it's wrong. Frost will get time. And it will take time. I think over the next 5 years the b1g will see an offense they aren't used to seeing. But if the d cant control the line of scrimmage it doesn't matter.

Do you think your dawgs can slow down the sooners?

I really hope Nebraska can get back to where it was in the mid to late 90s. I’ve been to the school twice (passing through with an Ex girlfriend who sister went to Nebraska) it’s just hard to attract the top recuits to Nebraska when other schools are using the nightlife, locations, and home proximity to family as recruiting tactic. Frost will win games don’t get me wrong I just don’t know if he’s going to have the talent on the team to beat the top schools in the conference.

As for the Dawgs and Sooners I think it’s going to come down to Georgia’s offense and Oklahoma defense. I haven’t seen Oklahoma play except the OSU game so it’s kind of hard for me to judge. I just know that if Georgia’s offense can’t run the ball we will lose. The problem I see is if Oklahoma gets off to a fast start then Georgia will be forced to change its game plan from running the ball to passing. Fromm is good, but he’s no Eason and he’s not going to beat a playoff team with his arm. So can Oklahoma stop Georgia’s run game early enough for its offense to outscore Georgia in the first two or maybe 3 quarters. Georgia’s defense is good enough to keep it in the game with any team, but it’s the offense that will make or break the teams chances to win.

Thanks... on the fence playin Georgia through the books, OU is just one of those teams I hate to put money against. So unpredictable.

As for Frost, From what we are seeing offer wise, we already got a nice 4 star dual threat qb that's gonna sign early.. The staff has been hitting up local Nebraska kids hard to walk on. Frost is following the Osborne footprint, get local kids to set the pace and culture to keep 4 stars in line about the culture he wants. His offense will score points, can the defense stop the run and create turnovers, we shall see. Either way, as a husker fan, future looks bright vs. Riley; and I'll admit I liked Riley but kindness and being a nice guy doesn't translate to wins. Good luck vs. OU. Root n for the dawgs to win it all.

It will be interesting to see how well Frost does but I know Nebraska will give him time to build his team not many schools will do that.

Yeah I’m very excited about the Georgia Oklahoma game I got my tickets to the Rose Bowl and plan to fly out on the 31st with my fiancé. Lol I bought some club level seats, but they are in the Oklahoma section so here’s hoping for some nice fans to set next to..!

Just too many unknowns I guess. He has no head coaching experience, and we don't know if his personality is conducive to handling all of the political stuff that goes along with the position. I believe Kirby Smart's success is playing a big role in the excitement for Pruitt and they are two different dudes hired into two very different situations.

That being said, he does know the game, so he may end up being very successful there. Again, time will tell.
