The 2019 Major League Baseball season officially kicks off tomorrow, and all 30 MLB teams will be in action. So start coming up with your excuse to call in sick to work now.

What's your outlook for your respective teams? I fully expect the Cubs young core to put it back together and reclaim the central, but it's going to be an absolute blood bath in the NLC this year. I expect the race to come down to the wire.

Last year the Tribe was 91-71 and ran away with the Central, this year will be the same because the division is shit. Our rotation of Kluber,Bauer,Cookie,Clevinger, and Bieber are MLBs best hands down. Last year they were 76-42 with a 3.39 ERA(2nd lowest in the AL).........they will be waaaay better this year because Bieber looks great and hes our 5th, Bauer and Kluber are healthy too.

This is the 2nd year in a row where we open the season with a worst team on paper than the previous year. Problem isn't winning the division its what happens in the playoffs, last two years we got bounced in the 1st round.

This is the last year in our window gotta make a deep run because the firesale is coming.........bye bye Lindor(in about 18 months) and Bauer.

One thing I am so excited for though is this...........I say we all have a rivals get together here this year. Progressive Field is one of the better ballparks in baseball.

I will be there the entire weekend for all the events.

    Not very excited.

Braves are looking at 84-78, likely 3rd in the NL East.

Didn't do enough to help the team while most of the rest of the division did.

Think Astros could be great. Win the division again and make a run at the playoffs.

Need some players to rebound and others to continue to develop.
Interested in seeing what Michael Brantley gives.

    Interested in seeing Forrest Whitley.
Haven't see a pitcher for the Astros who is drawing this much attention in the minors.
Helps that he is a Texan from San Antonio.
Even besides that the guy has dominating stuff.
Guess he starts in the minors.

I would think the progression of Acuna and Albies alone would be enough to get Braves fans excited for another year.

Unfortunately the NL Central is Milwaukee's to lose. I'd like to see the Cubs win it but as long as the Cardinals finish last I'm good.

I never usually root for the Yankees but this Red Sox team is obnoxious and full of themselves. Would be nice to see them knocked down a notch.

Your weak division may be part of the problem. You're not exactly sharpening the blade routinely throughout the season.

Disagree. The Cubs still had the winning record head to head against the Brewers last year by a decent margin. The bats just went cold at the worst possible time. With a healthy KB, a fully formed Baez and Rizzo being Rizzo, the middle of the order should bounce back in a big way this season. Hell of Schwarber can become the batter we know he's capable of being, you've got a 2-5 that stacks up against any other in the league.

Sure there's concerns with the age of the pitching staff, I'm not expecting 2016 numbers from them, but we have Jose Quintana in the 5 spot. That's not a bad situation by any means.

I think the order will finish:

    Cubs
    Cardinals
    Brewers
    Pirates
    Reds

Will enjoy watching them, but there are too many pitching issues & a major flaw behind the plate, offensively, to be a real October team.

Brewers home opener tomorrow & this guy will be there! It was great winning game 163, then watching the FIBS lose in the division series.

Oh I'm not saying the Cubs have no shot at taking the division. With a healthy Yu Darvish to stabilize the rotation I think we'll be fine. I worry about how much better the Brewers have gotten. Yelich, Cain, Shaw, Braun, and Aguilar are all back, their pitching staff is better than ours and they added Yasmani Grandal who might be the best defensive catcher in the sport. They averaged 6.8 runs per game the last 3 months of last season.

If the Cubs get off to a rough start the Brewers are going to be hard to catch. Also Madden needs to find a set lineup and stick too it. Enough with playing musical chairs with it. Rizzo is not a leadoff hitter. Eyeroll

It's those damn analytics. I just got done listening to "The Cubs Way" by Tom Verducci (Great read by the way). It's incredible how much the entire front office along with Maddon really put their entire stock into analytics. If the numbers say something is a wise move, they do it. Regardless of whether or not it defies convention. Such as benching Heyward for the first two games of the WS for Soler. It didn't make any damn sense to have your 187 million dollar RF not starting in the WS, but the numbers said Soler would have better odds against Kluber and Bauer. So away they went.

I guess if those same numbers say "Put Rizzo in the 1" on any given day, that's what we get.

You don't seem to understand the term "officially". The season for the Mariners is underway. Opening Day and the official start to the season isn't until tomorrow.

I don't make the rules man.

It was my opinion that's why the offense went to shit down the stretch. You need a lineup of guys with set roles. Get on base, sac a guy over, drive a guy in. The 8 hole on an NL team is dedicated to a patient hitter cause if you're batting with no one on base and the pitcher due up behind you you're not seeing anything good to hit. Last year Baez, Heyward, Caratini, Happ, Russell, La Stella, Schwarber, and Contreras hit there. Heck he even routinely had a pitcher hitting there which screws up the types of pitches the 7 hole player will see.

But they get paid the big bucks to make those decisions, I'm just a fan.

As an Astros fan I had respect for the Cardinals but the Cubs....

Reds look to be fairly solid this season. Consensus seems to be apx 85 wins. Adding Puig, Gray, Roark, Wood. Kemp, Senzel coming up soon enough. Pittsburgh is in for a long season at the bottom.

Power Ranking MLB Stadiums Based on Their Food

    Cleveland Indians: Progressive Park #1

    1. "At the home of the Cleveland Indians, there is food around every corner and it's all extraordinary.

Their biggest specialty is Buffalo Chicken Mac and Cheese which is served at Chef's Action Station along with lasagna and Sunday brunch. Also, the world renowned hot dog with fruit loops and mac n cheese is to die for......"

    You did.

Folks also forget we finished with 69 wins last year in part because of that 3-28 start, which was due to having a bunch of backups and minor leaguers out there due to injuries and such. Id say its reasonable to at least change 10 wins out of that. So that would have us having started 13-18, and finish with 79 wins. 85 isnt unrealistic at all considering the upgrades weve made. But were they enough to get us to win the Central? No, I dont believe so. Milwaukee is my pick for now.

Off topic but I remember you saying you liked Borderlands 2, who doesn't right? A short trailer for 3 was posted this afternoon, you should check it out. It doesn't reveal much but it gives some idea of where they're going with it.

I’ve got the Phillies at 89-73 and either a wild card behind the Nats or the NL East Champs. Lineup and bullpen look very good. Just worried about the back end of the staff. I think the Phils will acquire a LH starter at some point in the season though.

Yeah, you're bullpen is suspect and so is you're lineup depth. Hanley Ramirez made the team for goddsakes. Twins lineup is top to bottom better. Better hope the rotation stays healthy all season.
