Let's see what happens. He has two years left on his contract. Perhaps even more will be known after this season:

I feel like Maryland has overperformed this season after losing smith and cowan

Yes, they have. Just making the Big Dance with the team he has would be his best accomplishment yet. However, he needs to make another run to at least the Sweet Sixteen soon. Throughout his first eight years in College Park(not including last year), he just has one. Next year, his team should be much better.

Yea I wasn’t trying to endorse Turg just noting that Maryland has suprised me this year. I’m not sure he will ever win much of anything but I had a similar opinion of jay wright then he went and did it.

Totally understand! Maryland, even if inconsistent at times, has surprised me, too. Yep, Jay Wright has been amazing. I think there were people who thought he "hit his ceiling" before his great run. Of course, throughout his first eight years, Jay had much more success in the postseason than Turgeon had.

Turgeon is 77-46 in Big Ten games at Maryland. They could end up doing a lot worse with someone else. I'd make sure I had a slam dunk lined up before I fired Turgeon.

However, only one sweet 16 appearance.

My point is that there are much worse coaches out there. I'd only fire Turgeon if I had a slam dunk option lined up.
Yes. That is why Maryland needs to have Plan A, Plan B, Plan C, Plan D, etc, all ready to go before letting him go or not renewing his contract in two years.

4 NCAA tourney wins in 10 years (3 of those including wins over the great Hawaii, Belmont & South Dakota State in close games).

So who would replace Turgeon? I don’t think you can make the case for replacing him unless there’s a solid hire in the works. Firing someone because of frustration is how you become Tennessee football

So let me ask you this- do you think it would be tough for the next coach to win 4 ncaa tourney games in 10 seasons like Turge (I'm going to start saying 11 since don't believe we get in this year-hope I'm wrong).

With the resources MD provides and the ability to show you can win a natty at MD, Terps will have a good amount of coaches to pick from...

If that’s the case, make the change. My point is Turg has had some success and it’s entirely possible that the next coach is less successful. But if it’s worth the gamble, go for it. Or if you think you’ve got a slam dunk hire, go for it
