Meaningless numbers, but here you go.

Mark Few has taken Gonzaga to the tournament all 22 times he's been at Gonzaga, and would have been a 1 seed in 2020 if not for covid.
He's been a 1 seed 5 times
A 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 10 & 11 seed twice each
Then a 6 & 12 seed once (never a 5 seed)

Here's what those seeds would have done historically in the tournament since 1985.

6.7 First round losses (3)
12.8 First weekend exits (11)
9.2 Sweet Sixteens (11)
5.8 Elite Eights (4)
3.1 Final Fours (2)
1.7 Title Appearances (2)
1.0 National Championships (0)
36.2 Total Wins (38)

His exits have been to:
1 seed 8 times
10 seed 3 times
2, 3, 6 & 9 seed twice
4, 7 & 11 once

As a 1 seed he's lost to:
9 seed, 1 seed, 3 seed, 1 seed, 4 seed
That's 0 Titles, 2 title games, 2 final fours, 3 Elite Eights, 4 Sweet Sixteens and 1 second round loss.
The average 1 seed in 5 tourneys would have .8 Titles, 1.3 title games, 2.0 final fours, 3.5 Elite Eights, 4.3 Sweet Sixteens & .7 second round losses.

His first 2 tourneys were 2 sweet sixteens as a 10 & 12 seed. After that he lost in the first weekend 11 of 13 years and the 2 years he won, he lost in the S16.

Not sure what any of this really means. Probably just wasted your time.

Hes okay, maybe decent, but nowhere near a good tournament coach. His team usually plays up to the seeding, or slightly below. They rarely suffer major upsets(only 2013 came to mind, but that WSU team went to final 4 anyway), but they dont impress either. Interestingly, they have never ever beaten a top 2 seeds in the tournament in this century, whether as favorite or underdog. Their only noteworthy underdog run was in 2016, that Gonzaga team was an 11 seed and made it to sweet 16.

To me, it means he’s a pretty average tournament coach. Not bad, not great.

Recently, they’ve done better in playing close to their potential, but arguably haven’t met it yet.

They were essentially a fringe top 25 program until the 2014-15 season.

2000-2014: 16-15, 4 Sweet 16s, 0 Elite 8s
2015-2022: 22-7, 7 Sweet 16s, 4 Elite 8s, 2 National Title Games

His teams are only tested early in the year. They aren’t battle tested like other teams are in games that count

The committee needs to stop giving Gonzaga 1 and 2 seeds. STOP IT. They got the overall numer 1 seed this year with MUILTIPLE ooc losses!

That rinky dink conference should never get a 1 or 2 seed.

The B1G has fallen on its face in the tourney in recent years. Should they stop giving them 9 bids every year?
