I hope this board stays around, I was missing it.
Offense is up if that is what you mean.
I heard LSU's coach on Tim Brando's show today saying that his team's HRs are down compared to last year. But he is in favor of the new ball and feels they should move in the fences at Omaha.
Amazed that LSU's No. 3 closer (as near as I could tell) has an 89 mph fastball as a SUBMARINE pitcher. That's filthy.
(I was watching the game while on a phone call and had the game's audio turned down for long stretches. He was the third pitcher they used in the top of the ninth so I'm guessing he's their No. 3 closer. I didn't actually look it up and don't have the working knowledge going in. But if that's your third choice in the ninth inning, that's rich).
Snow flurries in East Lansing yesterday. Wanted to go to Michigan State game. Didn't happen.
Expecting temps in the 30s for the first pitch of my son's 10-and-under tournament game on Saturday. Wearing World Series gear, as in October world series in Minneapolis. Darn shame. But my kid is tougher than I am. He also plays hockey, so he also has more character than I have. I'm more worried about me than him, as far as handling the cold dugout. Bringing one of those ice fishing shanty heaters for the dugout. Different game up here.
Darn shame that the college season ends up here a week or two after the trees bloom. MSU has a truly gorgeous tree-lined setting for college baseball. But it doesn't look and feel right until the last week of the regular season. Then it lays unused for the rest of the summer, other than the state high school championships. Darn shame.
But my son attended baseball camp at MSU and in July it's the most ridiculously perfect green grass you've ever seen. Darn shame it's not used more.
If Maneiri said that then he is wrong. LSU has already hit more HRs at this point than they did last year. They hit 41 all through last year, and they have 38 right nnow, but I agree that the new ball is helping. More balls are getting to the gaps.
Yes and yes.
How have I never seen this?? Awesome board. Keeping my fingers crossed I can watch my Illini in Omaha ... A ways to go, but we just won our 21st in a row.
Now we just need people to visit the board!
A lot more traffic at the D1 Baseball board.
Like the new ball a lot. The three run homer is back in play.
