They probably had more show up at the fire pit/river to burn Lebron jerseys.

I actually admire a sports town more, if they don't tolerate losing, unlike the Cubs for 700 consecutive years. Maybe ownership wouldn't take fans for granted like they do at Wrigley and try harder to put forth a winner, if fans would vote w their wallet more often. The 90s Braves was a unique situation of winning a hundred division titles with very little to show for it title wise. Fans just became frustrated at the big game losses. No other city has had to face winning 15 consecutive or whatever divisions w only one title, pretty early in that run, so it's easy to criticize.

Most of us knew when Ted sold that it was going to start sucking and it did. OTOH, look at how much Arthur has put into the Falcons and now MLS soccer. A good owner that invests in the product and facilities can create an environment fans want to be a part of. A corporation only looking at the bottom line makes that a lot tougher and we can lose that connection to the team.

1 title in 15 years is sad. I saw many of the last games to end the season and it eventually wears you down because you feel like why should I care if they don't. This group is different because they're young, very talented and most of them weren't even born the last time the Braves were a good club. Hopefully they can continue to improve and bring home another title in the next few years.

    This is kinda like,

    I've killed 20,000 VC dead!

How can you tell if they're VC?

If they run, they're VC, If they stand there they're well disciplined VC......

We’ve been dead for weeks. But enjoy it now. This year is your chance. This winter the Phils go Machado and Harper shopping. The Phils will have a 200 million + payroll and then as per usual the Phils will leap frog the Braves.

Best of luck. I'm not going to lie, going into the year I thought the Phillies would be a year or so ahead of the Braves. Glad I was wrong...

    Phillies 2008
    Braves 1995

You do realize that the team that comes out of the American League is winning the World Series right?

It’s amazing the Phillies stayed involved as long as they did. It’s a testament to the impact great starting pitching can have. Their everyday lineup and approach is awful. They may have the worst team batting average in baseball. Unfortunately for them, the starting pitching broke down which isn’t surprising as 4 of the 5 starters broke their own personal best for innings pitched this season. Phils have a bright future, deep pockets and ownership willing to spend money.

Which by your own admission will end with losing.

I'm not sure why I have to constantly provide this reminder from the Ten Commandments of sports:

"Whether we are talking about the Falcons, the Braves, the Hawks, or the Georgia Bulldogs, in the end, the team from the state of Georgia always shits the bed in the biggest of spots. Choking, misery, heartache, and loss is innate to the DNA of their sports teams."

Again, never said they wouldn’t win either. Although I doubt it.

But keep putting words in my mouth. And if you don’t get why someone would be excited to watch their team in the playoffs, I don’t know what to tell ya. Especially a team that was expected to be third or fourth in this division.

Also, falcons, dawgs, and hawks can EAD

Oh, I know that. I did. I'm the guy saying that the Braves will never win. Their ownership won't spend money. Their only WS title came because they had the good fortune of getting paired up with an even more snake bit city in the WS in Cleveland. Can you name another franchise that had a pitching rotation with 3 Hall of Famers for a decade and it only resulted in one championship? That defies all odds and speaks to how cursed that entire state is when it comes to winning in a big spot.

Agreed Cleveland is more snake bit than Atlanta as proven in 1995.

Alright. Way to change the subject. No one here is denying the braves failures of the past.

If you want to talk history tho, it’s funny coming from a franchise with less World Series, a worse all time winning percentage, and the most franchise losses in mlb.

    Good talking to you man.

Wait til next year >>>>>> wait til never

Remember when Kimbrel and Heyward and the young Braves were gonna own baseball? These young kids will flirt with being good enough and then the Braves will trade them away because ownership won't pay them...again.

The majority of the time, the best regular season doesn't matter in the playoffs. That's not the way baseball works.

Just look at 3 of the last 4 years..
-Last year the best record in baseball was LA Dodgers. Houston won it all.
-3 years ago St. Louis substantially had the best record in baseball. They didn't win the National League.
-4 years ago SF Giants won it all as a wild card team. They had the worst regular season record to make the playoffs.

Agree with all of that. That's why I said the team from the American League and not the Boston Red Sox. The difference between the two leagues right now is like the SEC and the MAC. Whoever comes out of the AL is going to be one hot battle-tested team at the right time.

My man. Your whole argument has been the braves past history (which is irrelevant to what we were discussing and still better than the Phillies) and your fantasy where Phillies get Harper and Machado (el-oh-el).

Then you finally say something about the present and recognize the Phillies have been trash against against the nl east (which overall has been trash). But wait til next year...
