named the MVP in the USA U18 3 on 3 Tournament after leading his team to the USA U18 3 on 3 Championship.

Shocked this kid picked Iowa. You would think his dad is the coach or something.
if his dad wasn't the coach he would never have given Iowa a sniff. same with Connor and Wieskamp. in fact a lot of the last 2 classes would never have given Iowa a 2nd look.
the talent level is improving, improved talent means improved play especially on defense.

the scoring is not a problem and it would not surprise me to see this years team avg 85 ppg after avg'ing 80 ppg the last 2 seasons.

this falls team will be a lot different in play than it was last season, with 1 SR and 6 JR's with Wieskamp being that solid 5th starter. plus RSSR Baer coming off the bench as that 6th man again, makes the top 8 more balanced with nobody having to play out of position
no SG or SF having to play the PG position
7'0 Nunge no longer being needed to play the SF position.

better team defense rather than matador defense.

It's the same guys playing defense as this past year. Wake us up when we see vast improvement.

as they get older and healthier they will get better. the real key is nobody will no longer be needed to play out of position. like these.
6'7 Dailey who is a SG/SF will no longer play the point.
7'0 Nunge a stretch 4 and 5 will no longer be needed to play the 3.
both of these played out of position due to the lack of players because of injuries and a player quitting right before the season began,

this season the lineup could look like this;
PG/1 JR Bohannon backup RSFR Connor McCaffery
SG/2 FR Wieskamp backup JR Dailey
SF/3 JR Moss backup RSSR Baer
PF/4 JR Cook backup JR Pemsl
C/5 SO Garza backup SO Nunge

off the bench as needed due to injuries and fouls.
JR 4/5 Kriener
FR CG/1-2-3 Fredrick

my top 8
Bohannon, Wieskamp, Moss, Cook, Garza, Baer, Connor and Nunge with Pemsl and Dailey fouls injuries dictating how many minutes they as the #9 and #10,

one other thing the year he joins the team there will be 5 maybe 6 SR's on the team. and SR leadership was the missing factor in the 17-18 season.

yea, keep telling yourself that.

yea, keep telling yourself that.
Jok was the lone SR surrounded by 6 FR that went 10-8 and T-5th when they were projected to finish 10th or worse, then this last season there was no SR for them to look to for leadership.

replacing Jok's stat were not the problem it was his SR leadership that I didn't count on having to be replaced. this season RSSR Baer will be the vocal leader of the team.

whether you want to admit it every team needs a SR Leader.
