Then it's too dangerous for us to go to work, go to walmart or go to a gas station and we should all roll over and die as hermits and let the world go to crap...

Cancelling a fanless NCAA tournament is stupid. If you disagree and you're at work right now, then you're stupid too.

CNNN' s Don Lemon said request are being made to shut down all US factories who employ 500 or more people
He said this could possibly send the US in a recession

None of this makes any rational sense.

What happens when players refuse to play? You really expect players to go out & play as hard as they acan when they have no idea if their opponent is infected?
I’m sure if it was your son & his future you’d have a different view.

It has a 0% death rate for non-immuno-compromised people under 30. The worst the players would have is a sore throat and fever.

Ok. So are they supposed to stay away from parents or grandparents?
Didn’t realize a damn basketball tournament was this important to our society.

Cancelling a basketball tournament and shutting down all places of employment are hardly comparable actions.

Just spoke to a buddy of mine who is an airline pilot. They were supposed to bid on their schedules today. They were told they'll have to wait another week. Too few flights now to bid on. He's afraid they're going to be let go.

Yeah, young people probably should stay away from elderly right now. That’s being said by the worlds leading doctors.

We can’t shut down the economy completely. That will only make the problem worse. We need young people to go out and buy things, we need then to work. But we also need to keep them away from elderly and people with bad immune systems.

Exactly but playing a basketball tournament is the least of this country’s concern.

You really think these college players are just going to stay home and do nothing? They will be out going to places that have a greater chance of getting them infected than playing games with limited people.

This virus goes away quicker. Now they will get std's AND the coronavirus. That might be enough together to kill some of them.

Tell that to people who depend on something like a basketball tournament to put food on the table. Tell that to the bus drivers and equipment people who just got laid off.

I'm not trying to be callous toward people's lives here. Just the opposite. I don't think you're fully grasping the totality of the circumstances.

You're much more likely to get mass spread at events with thousands of people packed tightly in a single environment than your typical work environment. Of course if no one left their house it would be contained better. Was that a serious question?

It's also much more feasible to shut down entertainment events than shutting down the entire economy, in case you were wondering.

I really, really want to read a story explaining exactly how the Utah Jazz managed to get their hands on 58 COVID-19 tests in a matter of hours.

The question was, which is more effective. Cancelling games that already had fans restricted from attending? Or restricting employees at large office firms.

Try to answer the question this time.

Got me, I was referring to keeping the fans out. They obviously cancelled the fanless tournament for the safety of players and staff since you're correct that wont do much to slow the spread, except to the players and staffs.

However, shutting down all office buildings would require federal intervention, while the NCAA tournament doesnt. Shutting down the tournament also doesnt completely cripple the economy, making it actually feasible.

    I 100% grasp what’s going on.
A family friend of mine is a senior baseball player for WKU.
He has having a great year so far & was getting calls from scouts about being drafted.
My heart breaks for him because the entire baseball season was cancelled.
Sorry but I feel for kids like that more than a tournament being cancelled

Most employers are letting staff work from home if feasible. I don't think anyone literally means "shut down".
