Obviously Captain Khaki enters the 2018 season on one of the hottest seats in America after his mediocre 2017 results and his utter inability to beat his rivals or any team with a pulse.

So, the question is what’s the number of wins he needs to hit to not get fired? You have to think another 8 win campaign gets him the boot. Does 9 wins secure another year? What do you think?

Hes fine hes not losing his job. Michigan is playing pretty good not winning the big games but that break through is coming soon.

I think he is safe even if he goes 6-6. Hell, some scUM fans are still blaming RRod for their current issues.

If he wins 14 games in 2 years, you absolutely cannot keep him and claim to care about winning titles.

If Harbaugh, scUM fans savior, isn't able to succeed at Michigan, who are they going to hire that can?

Harbaugh has only been 2 wins better than Brady Hoke was in his first 3 years. The right person can absolutely win at Michigan. Harbaugh just isn't that guy.

These are the excuses AFTER the preseason hype every year:

Year one: well it’s his first year you can’t expect much

Year two: well once he gets his players in

Year three: ....uhhhhh...oh yeah QB sucked. He’s the QB whisperer but yeah that’s why

I expect them to be about a 9 win team this year. Depending on some lucky or unlucky bounces add or minus a game. Still think they finish at least 3rd in the East behind Ohio State and most likely either MSU or PSU.

They have had a ton of turnover on the roster in the last couple of years, but excuse time is about gone. This is year 4 no one to blame but himself if they don't get the job finished against some of the big rivals. I think they come out with the biggest chip in the world against ND in game 1. Which sucks because I don't think Kelly will have ND firing at the same level in game one.

Is he really on the hot seat? I coulda swore he just signed some sort of lifetime extension? Then again, Mack Brown did the same thing at Texas...

I think they’ll get 10 wins this year. They’ll be a legit contender but I’m not sure they make the playoff. We’ll see.

He’s 1-6 against his rivals, is coming off an 8 win season and only beat one team with a winning record last year (7-6 Purdue). Of course he’s on the hot seat.

They got some tough games. Open the season at Notre Dame, also travel to Michigan State and Ohio State, as well as a potential trap game at Northwestern. They host Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Penn State.

You can tell Harbaugh is getting very desperate over there. Bring in Shea Patterson, bring in Ed Warinner, bring in Jim McElwain. It looks good on paper but I don't think it's going to work out as great as they hope it will. The defense will be fine but the offense will continue to have issues.

I say they go 9-3, losing to Notre Dame, Michigan State, and Ohio State.

Based on what? Their schedule is pretty challenging. They have road games against Michigan State and Ohio State (Harbaugh is 1-5 vs those rivals, the lone win being 3-9 Michigan State in 2016.) They play Penn State and Wisconsin at home, and I think they'll beat both of those teams at home. There is a trap game At Northwestern, they'll probably win but you never know. If they go 7-2 in conference with losses to Sparty and OSU, they probably aren't winning the division. Plus Harbaugh's record against ranked teams at Michigan is overall weak, and it's even weaker against ranked road teams, he might even be winless in that regard.

Well I really don't think Wisconsin or Penn State are particularly good so I guess that's part of it. OSU is clearly a better program, but I think the combo of Patterson at UM and Meyer breaking in a new starter in Columbus gives UM the edge a little this year. I could be wrong but I just sort of feel like this is the year things start to come together for them.

It was year 4 that he really broke through with Stanford. At the same time, Michigan doesn’t have an Andrew Luck at QB.

Trust me he isn’t getting fired. If he’s gone it’s on his own terms.

The argument here is always “if he goes then who should coach”?

Problem is that fan base and alumni are too stubborn. It “has” to be a “Michigan man”.

I get it. Rich rod and Hoke didn’t work out. That was an AD issue and nothing else. Brought in the wrong type of coaches. But you can’t tell me there isn’t a coach out there that can’t turn their program around. It can’t just be Jim that’s fit for the job (and right now he isn’t fitting very well). That’s so irrational even for that fan base.

At this point it certainly seems clear that Michigan cares more about the publicity that comes along with sleepovers in teenagers’ treehouses and trips to Rome than they do about winning football games.
