Iowa 10 commits and 15th. they just had a commit from a dime a dozen RB who ran for 2100+ yards and 24 TD's as a JR. in LeShon Williams out of Oak Lawn Richards, Illinois, he joins his HS Commit 4* DB Castro, that red shirted.

OSU's recruiting is always better don't expect that to change any time. just asked how many and where the class rank. it will be interesting to see how it progesses month to month, players will decommit/flip changing where teams are ranked

UGA has a good 2020 class at this very moment, top 5/10 but only has 9 players committed. So far so good, but we've learned to wait until signing day before counting our chickens. Chances are that we'll lose one or two of these players to other teams, but replace them with one or two that we get from other teams. There's always surprises, both good and bad.

There's good and plentiful talent in Georgia, far more than UGA can take in any given class. We Dawg fans would rather see these extra players go to Iowa, out west, up north, and anywhere instead of a rival SEC team, Clemson, FSU and the like.

    Iowa already have these
    LB McDonald Georgia Defensive POY
    RB Goodson

not many but a couple of future impact players, I will gladly take as many as Georgia players as we can get, along with players from Texas and Florida.

12th or 11th depending on the service, with only 8 commitments. Not too shabby so far coming off a top 5 class :D

Just because a player is from Georgia, Texas, or Florida doesn't make them good or sought after. And I don't know where you're getting your info from, Iowa has no commits from the state of Georgia in the 2020 class.

The two players he mentioned are already on the Hawkeye's team, recruiting classes of '18 and '19. I think what he was trying to say is that Iowa was still trying to recruit in the state of Georgia and had a couple of prospects for the upcoming class of '20.

6 commits with a 92 average player rating as opposed to Iowa's 87

Problem is the two closest schools to us - and whom we play every year - average player rankings are 96 and 94

I just said they had offered 2 players from Georgia, they got McDonald in the 2018 class, then they got RB Goodson. both came from class 7A State Champion North Gwinith, McDonald was the Georgia Defensive POY

1 player per year in a class of 20 from Georgia is about all I expect to get out of Georgia, combine that with getting 3 or more players from Florida and getting 1 or 2 from Texas. the so called speed states, is helping Iowa.

just like getting players like AA LB 4* Jacobs out of Ohio helps. Iowa is expanding the area's they recruit, California, Colorado, Alabama, South Carolina, all place that has not been recruiting grounds for Iowa before his staff was rebuilt with 8 new Assistant coaches.

as of now ESPN list 4 4* players out of 10 recruits, in Iowa's case this does not happen very very often. this class can end with anywhere from 16 to 20 recruits. depending upon how many underclassmen leave for the NFL, depending to some to early NFL Draft Boards these are listed as 1st round draft pick as underclassman
    JR DE Epenesa
    JR RT Wirfs
    RSJR LT Jackson
then QB Stanley could go in the 1st round as well, Gil Brandt had Stanley as the 3rd best QB in the 2020 class.
in the 2019 class they had 4 underclassmen declare early and all 4 were drafted,

Yes, very true. Hayden Fry use to do very well out there. Kirk spends no time recruiting out there and I don't know why.

Plus he hates playing games on the West Coast.

I think Kirk hates the West Coast. Lol.

Nebraska use to recruit Cali heavy as well.

And that folks, in a nutshell, shows exactly why Kentucky has historically sucked in the SEC. You cant expect to import your roster every single year and be good!

Anyway, UK is 37th on Rivals with 4 commitments for '20. However, 3 of the 4 are 4 *, plus a 3*DB from South Carolina's backyard :D Obviously a long way to go before any of this means anything. We had 22 schollys available for '19, so after last season and the way this season looks on paper at present, I think we see big things happen in 2020 in recruiting.

Y'all been stealin' alot out of our backyard the last 5 years. :(

Your SC commit is the 14th rated prospect in the state. Might be a good un.

SC has 51 players in the NFL. At an average career of 5 years, that means the state puts out about 10 nfl quality players per year (others with ability fall out due to poor academics in the state) Your guy might be of that quality. Funny though, this is considered a good year for prospect in the state, but only five players are rated 4 star or above. That leaves about 5 three stars who are probably going to be NFL quality.

Your guy is from a Greenville County school, so academics are probably decent

Im all for it. Weve got to get a lot of our roster from in state and Ohio, but absolutely have to be able to go further South and get guys. We do pretty well in Georgia too. Seems like the SC guys weve gotten recently have really panned out well for us. Glad to have Phillips on board.

Collins is getting rid of Paul Johnson's triple option, and this could change the recruiting dynamics in the state of Georgia. With Johnson's triple option, high school seniors who had NFL dreams mostly stayed away from GT, since their talents could seldom be highlighted on offense. In particular, Johnson seemingly didn't care much about recruiting Atlanta and surrounding suburbs, which is what GT needs badly. All of that Atlanta talent, and GT was viewed as an unwanted last resort. This is why teams like Iowa (and others) are able to get players from the state of Georgia.

So now it could be that Georgia Tech might finally start getting some of the best talent in the peach state, instead of leaving the state. We'll see. Not much is expected from the 2019 Yellow Jackets, but they should get better and better over the next few years.

Interesting take. Just noticed that Georgia Tech is recruiting pretty darn well for 2020. Class is #13 so far.

Most of those are 3* guys, but you can build a good team with 3* kids from Georgia.

Good points, but it wont matter until their admin gets serious about being good at football. Johnson got tired of fighting that battle.

You'd think that with a good coach at GT, even with little support, the Yellow Jackets could still put together some really solid talent and field good teams. They really need to change their perception so that they look more like a desirable destination.

Of course, we Dawgs are happy with the status quo, and are satisfied with how things are today.

Iowa's position with Hogan could change.

If I was Iowa I would pay very close attention to Haynes King. I think the loser of that battle could put full court press on Hogan.

Don't know his relationship with Iowa and how strong his commitment is but the seats don't have enough people so some seats could look to steal from someone else.

the relationship is quite solid and he is recruiting other players to join him. these are a few of his top offers
    Baylor
    Georgia
    Houston a instate school
    Oklahoma St
    Tennessee
so I doubt he will flip. another note he stated that Iowa's system fits his style as the was the main reason why he chose Iowa,
Iowa has put a couple QB's into the NFL one of them is a starter for the 49'rs, this also played a part into him choosing Iowa.

if for some reason he should flip Iowa is in on Jalen Suggs a 6'4 DT QB that wants to play both FB and BB, both KF and Fran have already told him he can play both.

so I think Iowa is sitting pretty good in the QB position plus 4* QB Petras will be coming off his RS year not to bad a SR year 4000 yards passing, 50 TD's to just 2 INT's.
