How is UNC's D this year?

If Texas has any chance to beat UNC it will be because UNC still cannot guard anyone.

Pretty sure Shaka Smart and Texas will hold UNC way below their season average but don't think it be below 75.

So Texas is going to need to score and last year UNC had issues stopping people from doing that.

Whatever happens it should be a great game in Vegas.
Have tremendous respect for UNC and Roy Williams
 
They should be ok on defense. They’ve already went and beat that juggernaut, Wofford, in their arena.
All I do know is that for one night, I’ll be pulling like hell for Texas.

It's ok. A work in progress. They get a lot of steals and deflections and have been aggressive so far. I'm not sure they will continue to be so aggressive when they play better competition though. Kenny Williams is an excellent defender but rolled his ankle so not sure how hampered he will be.

Still can’t guard anyone? Roy’s got 3 titles and numerous tournament wins. How many titles/tournament wins does Shaka have? What I’m saying the defense was good enough to accomplish what I mentioned. Shaka likes to run and so does Roy so we shall see.
 
Yeah, this idea that UNC doesn't play defense is pretty ignorant. People just don't understand the game very well. Higher possessions leads to higher scores on both sides. They aren't always elite defensively but they are often a good defensive team.

If I were Shaka, I'd try to get the ball into the two bigs, and test unc's interior defense. Unc's perimeter defense is decent.

I'm kind of glad you don't have Barnes, he had roy's number.

Small sample size obviously but Top 10 D according to Kenpom right now.
 
Should be a great game.

Very interested to see what Arkansas does with Indiana.

Nevertheless, Texas and Shaka Smart have been stockpiling Top 10 classes.
With that I think Texas gives them a game.
Don't think any team is elite yet. Way too early in the year so just like last year with Duke I think Texas can pull off the win.
Unlike last year I think Texas is a lot more experienced in the backcourt with Coleman and Roach so they won't blow it.

Just hope the bigs are ready to dominant.
Cause Texas is ready to beat errrbody in all sports again.
 
Texas has been a team which seems to have had Carolina’s number historically.Seems like every team has s program that they inexplicably cannot best.I always shudder when I see Arizona on our schedule.Unc is better than Texas but I hope this trend continues lol
 
Quick someone make sure shun is ok he maybe out looking for his next victim now, unless Texas chokes on a moon pie

Texas shot 53% from the field and 46% from 3. That looked like UK's defense against Duke.

I didn't see the game but there are a couple of things I feel comfortable saying.

1. We aren't having a good year if our two senior leaders keep sucking.

2. We aren't beating good teams with Woods out unless we just shoot lights out. He is our best distributor, best on the ball defender, steadiest PG and only player who doesn't turn the ball over (that handles it a lot).

So we will probably lose tomorrow as well for those of you who this may excite.

If they play MSU I'd say a loss is possible. Doubt they would lose to UCLA though.

Maybe not. We tend to always play well against them. We tend to always lose to Texas. Roy just can't beat them for some reason.

It is frustrating. I wish Roy could figure out a way to play better against the teams that foul so much on defense. They always give him issues though.

Defense is terrible. We had a guy who was 17-46 on the year go 12-15. Would have been nice to stick Woods on him.

I didn't realize that. If he plays poorly against teams that foul aggressively he must have a terrible record against Louisville. Laughing Texas was only whistled for 18 in this game, nobody with more than 3.

If not for White it would've been a blowout. He was making some ridiculous shots that were well guarded.

Yeah, they have struggled with Louisville several times. Well, you know how it is playing a team that is very physical on D. They aren't going to call them all. It always seems the more physical a team plays the more they get away with. I've never understood this about the college game. Regardless, the reason UNC is struggling and lost this game is obvious. It isn't because of fouls. It is because they can't stop anyone right now. They got toasted by a pretty average team.

Sure. If not for Roach the Heels would have won though. Someone has to score for both teams. Our seniors are not. Hell, our 2 guard is average 5 points a game and shooting 15% from 3.

But yes, with Coby it seems we would have gotten smoked. Kind of wish they would have.

They scored in completely different ways. Roach methodically carved up the defense. White was jacking up some highly contested 3s.

Yep, pretty frustrating to watch officials let tackles go but then they'll whistle a hand check.

Little excels when he is at the 4. Struggles at the 3. Roy will play him at both for a bit to give him that experience then will hammer him at the 4 eventually. He does this crap every year.
