Iowa splits their 1st 2 games of the season.
Typical early season north vs south matchup. Boys up north have only been outside a few times
Iowa has had the opportunity to practice outdoors because of temps ranging from 48 - 68, but the new FB practice facility is big enough for the Baseball team to practice in, even the women softball team holds games in there,
Iowa is now playing South Alabama State. but thanks for responding.
I would take the first 15 games with a grain of salt. Heck LSU plays their next 15 games at home as all the northern teams come south before conference play begins.
Now if Iowa turns into something and wins 40 games, then that's certainly a feather in your cap with strength of schedule. I'm not sure where they were picked to finish in the big10 or if they're even ranked at this point. Too early to tell
under Heller they are doing better than they have done since the 2010 season when they made the NCAA Playoffs, Iowa has won 30+ games all 3 seasons reaching the 2nd round twice.
this is why I asked how good SFU was to get a idea of good they might be this season. right now they are in a 3 game series with South Alabama and Iowa won the 1st game.
South Florida are in the AAC and they normally have a better than average team. They are in an area to recruit better than most teams. The AAC is a great baseball conference. My Pirates have a chance to win the conference this year and make some noise.
We have played Michigan in the past and they have a good squad. Michigan is led by an ex Pirate player.
How do you normally stack up to Michigan in baseball?
can't really tell. until Heller arrived Iowa was a middle of the BT team at best.
until Heller can find a good relief pitcher this going to be a very long season going into the bottom of the 7th vs KSU they were up 4-2, then KSU score 1 in the bottom of the 7th, 1 in the 8th, 1 in the 9th and 1 in the 10th to win 5-4,
right now their 2 best starting pitcher are out Eldrig for the season will be going thru the Tommy John Surgery, with Gallagher being back in another week, but it does no good without a decent relief pitcher.
ECU lost two Friday because of the bullpen, I feel your pain. Our best pitcher is out right now with a broken ankle. Should be back though.
Iowa best pitcher will be back, this is not the 1st time the bull pen has failed Iowa, in the very 1st game they went into the bottom of the 8th up 4-0 and gave up 8 runs to lose 8-4
What is this VeloPRO Baseball Harness that South Carolina and Clemson have been training with? Looks interesting and it appears like a lot of MLB and NCAA players use it. Also noticed Taijuan Walker and Travis Blackley throwing incredibly well after training with it this offseason. Seems to have a lot of value, as these top players and organizations are really buying into it. I checked out the science behind it at www.veloprobaseball.com. Looks like it can help. Thoughts?
Iowa's bullpen fails again, this time they were up 11-4 going into the bottom of the 6th and end up losing 12-11 KSU must be the best College Baseball team this year.
correction quit watching to soon. left when the score was tied 11 to 11 bottom of the 9th and KSU had a runner on 3rd with no outs, Iowa used 3 pitchers to win the games on a run in the top of the 10th 12-11 as they shut out KSU in the bottom of the 10th.
Iowa is 10-8 with only 2 home games on the season.
Most collegiate baseball games early on are played at neutral sites. Not a lot of home games for anybody unless you are in the south. But many of the southern teams play the tourney as well.
I agree that Heller has done a very good job at Iowa.
14-9 going into a 3 games series with UNLV. 2-1 in BT play, good start to the season.
wow this is really great. i love the pitches.
