. . . looks like the Browns f*cked up again.
He looks terrified in the pocket. Look at those feet.
He was graded with a very positive review.
He looked very good to me
I've been tryin' to tell em.
What little I saw, he looked good BUT you never really know with preseason.
You and I must've watched a different game. He was smooth as silk in the pocket.
Clearly we did. He made some good throws but his foot work is frantic. Its his first...kind of, start so I understand the nerves. But he doesn't look comfortable.
Did you not see Mayfield play? He looked very good
Actually, I think the Brown's got the better QB. We'll know a few years down the road.
As for their first games, Mayfield clearly played better:
* More scoring (14 vs 7)
* More efficient on drives (2.0 pts/drive -vs- 1.4 pts/drive)
* Higher QB rating (125.4 -vs- 103.0)
* More total yards (212 yds -vs- 96 yds)
In fact, Darnold's very lucky he didn't get an int on one of his errant passes...
He was 11 for 20, that ain't great. I didn't see elite arm strength or mobility.
He was plenty mobile and everyone knows he doesnt have elite arm strength. He still looked good
Jets are Super Bowl Champs of the preseason. Print the shirts.
Yes -- Mayfield had some incompletions. But anytime you get a 125 QB rating, you're doing something right.
As for arm strength, Mayfield completed longer passes than Darnold and that's all that matters (we're not trying to throw a ball through a wall).
Hate giving him any credit, but yes, yes he did.
Plus, that "Hard Knocks" kinda made him human to me, lol!
Josh Allen! What an arm!
Guy was a turnover machine at SC. I never understood the hype
His skillset projects to a very high ceiling. He needs good coaching and time to fix some small issues with his mechanics and gain some confidence. My prediction is that we will all understand the hype before too long.
I believe he and Rosen will both fare better than Baker
I tend to agree.
Any of you morons think that maybe they could both be good QB's? Is it possible? I'm just asking for a friend.
He will take the Jets to new heights!!!
It's quite possibe. But highly unlikely they turn out exactly equal. Somebody drafted a better Quarterback.
Probably has something to do with his elite arm.
I never could understand the Jemeis Winston hype. 25 TD's to 18 Int his final year at FSU.
Sam Darnold. 26 TD's to 13 Int last year with a very poor (injured) offensive line. 31 td's to 9 Int in 2016.
Deshaun Watson will be the the next Tom Brady for the next 20 years
You spelt RG3 wrong
RG3 vs Andrew Luck sounds similar to this debate.
Didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I wasn't even necessarily referring to his interceptions. Darnold has major fumbling issues going all the way back to high school. If he just protects the ball when he gets tackled or sacked, he may do ok.
As far as Jameis, yeah he made some bold throws in college. Many went for big plays, others ended being intercepted. He has that same style in the NFL too and has been criticized for some really bonehead throws.
I think once and if Josh Allen gets acclimated, he can be the best out of all of them.
You didn't hurt my feeling bud. I don't care how he does in the NFL, I just know when I see a good QB. Fumbling issues can be corrected.
Yes, but only the Browns had the choice of drafting either. With that privilege goes the burden of being right.
Both teams might end up happy, but the bust rate of QBs says it's unlikely.
I have a feeling the Jets had Darnold in mind, but you're right.
And yea there just aren't many really good Qbs in the NFL. I just have a feeling Sam could be solid to very solid in the right situation. It is always a crapshoot though.
If he can stay healthy.
Are you being serious? 18 passes for 93 yards and 1 TD is better than 22 passes for 222 yards and 2 TDs? Mayfield had more yards per all passes than Darnold had per completion
Isn't to say Baker is better after 1 preseason game, but if YOU want to gauge them off this one game Mayfield was far better.
I also thought he looked good, but not sure that means he was the better pick based off of one preseason game.
Do you just not know how football works, too? Will Darnold be better? Perhaps, but you also think 18 passes for 93 yards and 1 TD > 22 passes for 222 yards and 2?
Don't know how Darnold did running, but Baker also got first downs on a 3rd and 4th down.
which was why I never thought to say the Browns clearly made the right choice already.
Then you shouldn't be in this discussion as your mind is made up. Best throw any of them made was Baker's sideline throw to Callaway that was overturned and ruled a completion. Showed poise in pocket, mobility, accuracy and arm strength.
