The main event of the evening will be contested at bantamweight, with No. 4-ranked contender Cory Sandhagen taking on former flyweight champion and fifth-ranked bantamweight Deiveson Figueiredo. The winner will probably need one more win before being offered a title shot, but it's possible they may get lucky, as they're two of the few men in the top-10 bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili has yet to beat. One way or the other, it's a fantastic fight on paper, as they're both extremely dangerous and aggresive on the feet and on the mat.
As good as the main event is, the co-main event arguably has even more hype. In one corner, we'll have highly touted middleweight contender Bo Nickal, who is closing in on the division's top-15. In the other, we'll have former two-division ONE Championship title-holder Reiner de Ridder, who will look to make it 3-0 in the UFC at Nickal's expense. It's a fascinating matchup between two world-class grapplers, and the winner could be looking at a top-10 opponent next time out.
Those are the two biggest fights on the bill, but the remainder of the line-up features a number of popular veterans in Santiago Ponzinibbio, Daniel Rodriguez, Jeremy Stephens and Marina Rodriguez, and even a former champion in Miesha Tate.
Keep it locked here for complete results of the Des Moines card, and a run-down of the real winners and losers of the night.
