SI graded every P6 team plus a dozen or so mid-majors based on their performance and relative expectations. https://www.si.com/college-basketba...g-ten-sec-duke-virginia-kentucky-final-grades

Too many to list them all, but some notables for fans I see a lot on this board:
UVA - A+
FSU - A-
UL - B
UNC - B
Cuse - B
Duke - C
NCSU - C

Nova - B-
DePaul - C-

Michigan State - A
Purdue - A
Michigan - A-
Iowa - B+
Ohio State - B+
Wisconsin - B
Indiana - C-

Texas Tech - A+
Kansas State - B
Kansas - C
Okie State - D+
West Virginia - D

Washington - B+
Oregon - B+
Arizona State - B

Auburn - A
LSU - A
Tennessee - B+
Kentucky - B
UF - B
SCar - B
Mizzou - C

Cincy - B+
UCF - B+
Memphis - B-

Thoughts?

C my ass. Everyone is scrapping for leftovers and my Wolfpack is still whole. If Markell or Leque show up on campus the Wolfpack will be serious contenders next season. Funderburk is going to rip heads off.

Ummm...this was about last season. The Wolfpack didn’t even make the Dance. Hard to have much higher than a C.

First 14 games------B, or an A. Went 12-2. Beat UL, Butler and Marquette. Lost at Duke and Arky.

Next 14-----G. Worse than an F. 2-12.

Finished season decent.

I'd say a "C" is adequate. W/O injuries, IU's a tourney team. But that's part of it.

Ks gets a d even with injuries and defections. No reason to lose that many games.

Are you serious? They played the #1 schedule in the nation. 16 wins over the tourney field and 8-4 vs the top 25. For reference, the ‘08 team was 2-2.

The team started 4 freshmen and three of them offered very little.

A B is about right. 30 wins. E8. Maybe a C. That’s pretty average for UK.

With the way the season started to where the team ended up mid February I think it’s above average. After destroying Tennessee at home, UK was fully healthy for only 3 of the next 12 games, and still would’ve made a final four if Keldon Johnson would’ve pump faked on his put back attempt with 7 seconds left.

But in a vacuum, no SEC hardware is below average and an elite 8 loss to a 5 seed isn’t great.

Should have been a C for Kentucky

Man. This really shows the gulf between a program like Kentucky and a program like FSU. I mean, y’all are right. Somewhere between a C and B is definitely appropriate.

It’s just eye opening when it’s framed like y’all did because FSU won 29 games and a Sweet 16 and we are pretty dang pleased. Hell, it was a program record for wins.

Well at the same time UK football just went 9-3 regular season and beat Penn State in the Citrus Bowl, without a doubt an A+ season for us and the best in at least 3 decades. Last couple of years aside though that would be a B or worse for FSU I would think

B for UK was what I was thinking before I entered the thread. They opening game was a nightmare and they struggled early on but they slowly got it together and right after the high water mark Travis got injured and they never hit that high again. They played to seed in the tourney and the end was disappointing but it was still a solid season.

I was in a bowling league that imposed no penalties for handicaps. I'm a 120-130 bowler, and I worked my way up to a 155 three week rolling (pun intended) average. My teammates were 170-180 bowlers and stayed relatively steady during the season. I ended up carrying my team, as my steady improvement meant that I exceeded my handicap by the greatest amount. But I never claimed to be the best bowler on the team because that would be stupid. I was only "better" because I had lower expectations (handicap) going in.

So, too, here.

Finished the year 19-17, 7 wins in the BigEast including a sweep of Kentucky killer Seton Hall. Made it to the finals of the CBI and should've won it, but was robbed by the refs in game 1.

I'd say based on recent past performance and hype we deserve better than C-. I'd say we are a solid C and maybe a C+.

Looking up old DePaul schedules and records...and damn. You talk about snake bit in March. Those early 80s teams were good. Just not in March

Wow, didn’t realize y’all were 19-17 this year. That really is an improvement. Not flaming.

Not snakebit, just coached by a truly awful coach at the time.

At the time we were a perennial top 5 team and never made it out of the first round.

yep, it was definitely a step up this year, for the first time in many years. Next year we have a top 30 recruiting class with a couple 4 stars. So who knows.

Ray Meyer wasn't a bad coach. Joey, yeah.

They both sucked. Ray was a massive fraud of a coach. Name another coach who lost twice in the opening round of the tournament as the overall #1 seed? Ray did it twice in a matter of a few years. He was a clueless game coach who like clockwork would go to the 4 corner "offense" anytime DePaul had a 5 point lead with 10 minutes left in the game.

I understand the C grade for Duke in the sense that we had 2 1st Team All-Americans and we looked underwhelming in the tournament... But at the same time, I'm thinking...

Duke with Zion:
Record: 29-3
Record against Sweet 16 teams: 9-2

UVA was 8-3 against Sweet 16 teams, and 4 of those wins came in the tournament.

Our 3 losses with Zion:
- 2 point loss to Gonzaga
- OT loss to Syracuse
- 1 point loss to Michigan State

We easily could have won all three of those games. We weren't great at times, but we were within a single basket of winning literally every game Zion played.

Ok, "B"...

Ok, "B"...

Fair enough. I think that grade is more realistic. Obviously not the greatest season ever for Duke. And I can easily concede that we were a bit over-hyped, but we easily could have won the whole thing. I mean, we had a 4-1 record against the Final Four teams.
