Small room for error. Still have games at Alabama, Missouri, Florida and Arkansas. Plus home games vs Kentucky and A&M. Schedule is set up nicely. Only play A&M and UK once. Both are at home.

I like Auburn. But I think your margin for error is to small to get a 1-seed. Personally I see AU being a Top 4 seed IF they continue to do as they have. Just think a one seed is a stretch.

This. Auburn won't get a one seed.

I think we will end up being anywhere from a 3-5 seed. We are one injury away at the 4 or 5 position from being in trouble. Would love to be a 1 though

You still haven't played Kentucky, that's why. (Seriously y'all have a good team please take it easy on us when we come to town)

Bruh, LeBron was in high school the last time Auburn made the NCAA tourney.

Honestly though, I think AU could potentially make some noise. They aren't top #3 seed material though, not with those suspensions.

Your expected RPI is in the 20s.
Currently 5th in ESPN and 9th in ncaa

That will change when the inevitable losses come. But they're a solid team and the sec isn't exactly the best conference.

Beat Florida and Kentucky and they're possibly up to a 2-3 seed. 4-5 seems most likely at this point though.

I would love to be the four in Auburn’s region. Auburn will end up as a 4-8 seed, I means it’s auburn.

An SEC team has to be remarkable to get a one seed. Last year UK won the SEC regular season and the SEC Tourney and ended up a 2 seed with a 19-2 SEC record. They put UNC as a one seed because they played in the ACC.

The NCAA screws with the SEC all the friggin' time.

I think he got that from last week, the RPI had the SEC #2 and announcer during a UK game made mention of it.

They're #4 now. Actually tied for 3rd with big east with .594 rating.

If he’s using the RPI as a reliable metric than that’s even worse.

Look, the SEC is having a better year. But they are AT BEST the 4th best league. Anyone who even casually follows college basketball can see that the ACC, Big 12, and Big East are better leagues.

I follow college basketball very closely and I don't see that.

Which is what the RPI has them as this week.

its jan 14th is why,

and sir charles, chris porter and that little weasel guard that was a thorn in my teams side aint walking through the door.

The ACC, SEC and Big East are all pretty much even. My point was that Michael Porter and Jarred Vanderbilt, the best overall Freshman and a top 10 Freshman haven't played yet? It's not that outlandish.

The SEC has a lot of decent teams but absolutely no teams that look like contenders at this point. I think people aren’t used to the SEC being deeper than 2-3 teams, but the highest ranked team is Kentucky at #20. Every other major conference has 2-3 teams that are better than any SEC team. That doesn’t mean the league is bad as a whole by any means

It will be fun once tourney time comes around. I’m sure there will be a few low seeded SEC teams pulling off good upsets

This is the exact opposite argument I've heard against the SEC for the past 10 years. It was always, "yeah, UK and Florida are title contenders but the rest of the league sucks." It's funny how things change. 8 teams are projected as of right now. To try and discredit the league in any regard is ridiculous. Only league that is head and shoulders better is the B12.

Their out of conference strength of schedule is terrible and they're likely to drop a few in conference, including some bad ones. I could see them getting as high as a 3 seed though.

That’s not even close to accurate. The ACC has 3 teams ranked higher on KenPom than the best SEC team.

Yet look at the overall conference strength for the leagues? Dead even.

With that said, the SEC's last place and 0-5 team has a 23-point win over the team who was just ranked #2 in the nation.

It's a deep league and agree, the SEC might not have a top 10 team.

Actually, the overall strength of the leagues aren’t dead even.
