"Alabama probably has one or two national championships they claim that weren't necessarily recognized by everybody..."

This is true for a lot of programs. But, at least someone other than themselves recognizes that particular national championship. No one other than UCF recognizes their "national championship."

Only b/c those teams have a different set of standards applied to them. People recognize Alabama's championships b/c Alabama says so. UCF says so, and everyone freaks out.

Its a double standard riddled with hypocrisy...

They might feel like Michigan got lucky that the title was split and they got to duck Nebraska that Bowl Season. You'd have to ask them, though.........

There's really nothing to debate. This isn't a beauty contest. CFP includes UCF to the degree they capitulated. 1/6 of a national championship appropriately belongs to them.
That's not open to debate. That's the degree to which they were admitted and challenged the rest (12 teams). 1/6 is their share, as it is with any team that was admitted, and were victorious. Stupid to have to keep debating something as simple as this. Ohio St claims a share (beat USC). They claim a share of the NC (1/6). Wisconsin claims a share (1/6). Oklahoma claims a share (were defeated but weren't eliminated). 1/6 I think is an appropriate share to claim in that circumstance. Georgia would, but for having lost to Alabama, Alabama therefore claims Georgia's share (1/6). Alabama claims a share (having beaten Clemson) 1/6. Add that up that's 6/6. Alabama claims a minority share after beating Georgia in OT. They assume a greater % but only 33.3 % cumulative.

When a school accepts an inviation that makes it a valid pairing. Nobody wants to hear a lame excuse why anyone wasn't sufficiently prepared. If you don't want to play a game, you have the option to say "thanks, but rather than give a piss-poor effort, we'll stay home". That's an option you have. Bowl invitations aren't set in stone. You can forfeit. but if you go, you better not try to make an excuse afterward for having lost. In fact I'm not sure that's ever fair to anyone. You could try it. Hell, I coiuld try it, too. I lost track meets because I wasn't ready to race my best race. I guess that's why I lost. But nobody really wants to hear the reasons why I lost do they? Most people don't care why I lost.

I might. I probably do. But if I run my best race, finish last, I shouldn't be telling everyone I "didn't give a shit" if I won or lost. That's not even kindergarten crap. Don't race at all.

Just out of curiosity, what other programs have explicitly stood behind Alabama for their 1941 Houlgate NC?

UCF has never been shy about the fact that we claimed a title based on the same historical criteria that has been used by other programs. We have not exerted any hypocrisy.

No you can't remove one claim simply because you aren't in agreement with it. The standing methodology perticular to the SEC is that only national championships matter. That's the argument being applied to Alabama's losing to Utah (who won 1/3 of the BCS). it doesn't count since Alabama wasn't motivated to win. It doesn't matter. Any game where a team isn't in a NC therefore isn't a relevant game. That's what's being offered as the reason for Auburn losing to UCF. it wasn't the official national championship. Auburn therefore wasn't motivated to win, and probably didn't care much about losing to UCF. If it had been for a national championship, Auburn would have "dusted" UCF according to McElroy. So, any game that's not relevant to the national championship can be dismissed. That's the argument being presented by the SEC for games they are losing.
I don't buy it, but that's the argument that they are using to justify their lackluster pairings.

This is a bad look for Saban.... Petty.....

He would have been much wiser to congratulate UCF on their great season and left it at that. " We won the playoff but UCF was awarded a championship by some organizations and for that I congratulate them" Done and Done.....

If he went about it that way no one is talking about this.

Only that the system you are claiming isn’t used anymore ,welcome to the 21st century, which used the cfp system, you know the one that determines the NC,not some self proclaimed title given to the winner of a one man circle jerk

Frost either doesn't know what he is talking about or he can't say the truth. Legitimate titles are determined on the field and awarded by the governing body of the sport which isn't the case with any FBS MNCs.

    Your point is semantic.

All members of the FBS are signed onto the Bowl System and recognize the College Football Playoffs as the National Championship Selector.

Completely untrue. The precedent Alabama set in modern times was not to recognize a championship awarded them by Colley in 2016. You know Colley, that make believe championship UCF hangs their hat on.
