Nupe. It was there yesterday, gone today.
Hmm, are those area just blank?
I have been a premium subscriber for years but I am suddenly being denied access to the main board, not that I go there very much, but still.
I have logged out and back in and it doesn't help. Home board is very iffy. Often gives me a 500 internal error, then starts working again
When you click on someone's name the thing pops up but there is no start a conversation option now.
I'll alert the tech guys and see if they can help you. I imagine we'll run into some of these problems in the beginning but they'll work on getting you taken care of.
The "show all" is there but the "start a conversation" is gone with the wind.
Are you a premium member? Perhaps it's only available to subscribers.
Nope. And it's been there since the switch until today for everyone. Several people I was "conversing" with aren't premium members either.
Could be a glitch in the system or a change by Rivals but we'll have to wait to see what they say. If you're really desperate to have a private convo you could always subscribe to the Bama site and see if that helps.
Are you insane? Those people are nuts over there!
But the convo option was great. How can I chat behind people's backs w/o it.
We (site owners) really wondered how the private messaging thing would work. I was in favor of adding it but with any good addition there will be some problems. Hopefully people don't abuse it.
I'm sure some will use it for evil rather than good. But since us "poors" lost our message walls some time ago, they've been missed. Makes it easier to chat w/some friends rather than having to toggle back & forth over to email.
I like it. Now give it back.
I didn't realize you guys didn't have a free board. Many sites did away with them years ago. I have free boards on both of my sites and hope that the new software will help increase the activity.
Yeah, we had them on our fanpages until about 2 years ago. It was nice, we could wish happy birthday, offer sympathy, tell someone to take a long walk off a short pier but we could keep in touch. When they went away, had to either switch to email or leave messages on the board which cluttered them up & people not impacted got up in other's business.
So getting PM'ing was like a gift from the heavens. Notice I said "was". I am disappoint.
Don't get smart with us, Vern. We are both Well Known Members.
Yeah, and I have TWO trophies.
Didn't get a hug, though.
If you can email the subscription department they should be able to help you with the problem getting onto the Main Board: email@example.com
Bet you'll never want to come back & help us again.
I don't mind. I would rather help people than sit back and watch them get frustrated.
Well, we are a pretty snarky bunch but we do appreciate it.
I took some abuse on the Main Board for trying to help but I knew how it worked over here so I didn't worry about it. Most it was pretty funny.
We are not snarky. Snippy, maybe, but not snarky.
Got my account thing straightened out. My old password was too short for the new system and it didn't contain a number. Then it showed that my credit card info didn't transfer and I had to reenter it.
Glad they got you fixed up. Welcome back to the cool club.
Vern, if you are still monitoring this page, let the record show that we are displeased with the bait and switch on the PM function. Poor form. It was advertised as a function we'd be getting. We got it. Then it was taken away.
Pitchforks, torches, etc, etc
I understand and I think the option was supposed to be showing up on the premium boards but not the non-premium. I can't speak for Rivals but I think it gives the subscription user more value and you're more likely to see the option abused by non-subscribers. Makes you feel any better we can still PM you and let you know when you're being bad.
It would make sense if non-subscribers were able to PM moderators.
Agreed and a suggestion that has been made. But the only concern I have is that we're going to be dealing with so many PMs already. That will settle down in time...I hope.
Then you haven't spent much time on the MB.
Seems to me that it WalMart advertises a service at a given cost (even if the cost is free) they, like most other businesses, honor it, because the mistake was theirs. This feature was advertised as one that everybody was getting. It's just poor form, and reflects badly on Rivals, in the opinion of many.
Don't expect you to do anything about it, but the decision-makers need to be aware that there are some who view it as a deliberate and unscrupulous attempt to lure in more subscribers.
Sooo, can we unbundle the features & pay just for PM? Verizon would let me do it?
Actually we're talking about releasing a PM only subscription, it's $9.94 a month.
Okay, score one for Vern.
How about a seniors discount. FT & I are old. AARP? Medicare?
Maybe Mr. Obama can work on a discount for the financially challenged.
Hey, we are on fixed incomes here! I'm having to fly coach to Africa. And it wouldn't be for long...we are old.
Well in addition to my Rivals sites I own a travel agency. Book your next trip with me and you'll get a free subscription.
Big spender, IMO.
I'm not afraid to throw in some free time to get business. Lol
Missed it if it was already covered, but what does the green dot on some users' avatars mean?
The user is online.
