Florida vs UCONN End Game

I remember wanting Mike White to get a look. Glad he didn’t

I’ve never got it with him. Other than an E8 run he’s averaged like 13 losses a season with loads of talent both left over from the Donovan era and his own recruiting. He IS proving to be a very good recruiter himself. But the on court results have not matched.

Where was he at before Florida? I can’t remember what he did to get the Florida gig.

Louisiana Tech. His teams won the regular season C-USA three years in a row - but lost in the conference tournament each time. He won a few games in the NIT, nothing more. He was 38 at the time, so he was seen as a young coach on the rise, in spite of not having any tournament success.

The sec has looked like it’s old self in basketball. I would say should be an easy conference season for UK but, Evansville.

I fully expected Florida to enter SEC play with maybe one loss. Now I don't know.

Their OOC schedule should have been a cakewalk.

I don't know about cakewalk. FSU is a sure fire tourney team. UConn is borderline, but road games are tough. Butler is always pretty tough. Providence is solid. And who knows who they end up facing in this tourney.

Having said all that, they are certainly under-performing expectations so far. But Mike White has been doing that for a couple years, so...

FLA is young. Maybe they turn it around later in the year and even though Blackshear is experienced he hasn't played with any of these guys.
We've looked much better. Team is very young, but I'm starting to think this team can make a good run once they get more experience. The last few games have looked much different.

They need to get more comfortable w/ the lead late in games though. We slow it down too much and throw up bad shots late shot clock. Tonight vs Xavier Florida gets up 17 then slows it down 6 min later gets to 6pts...get it back up to 12 w/ like 3-4 min left...let's it get to a 3pt game just under a min left. So damn frustrating especially when good chances are turned down in transition.

Speaking of FSU. They are basically the worst team to play against when you have inexperience (especially on offense). I hate playing them so early because they are such a good disruptive D that players lose confidence driving to the paint for 1-2 games after playing them. They finally realize a couple games after... oh shit I CAN do this lol.

FSU’s next game should be a good one. Tennessee looked REALLY good when I saw them play Washington.

Yeah, FSU is a PITA to play against anytime, but certainly early. It doesn't help that Hamilton just owns Mike White scheme wise (as in, Ham's scheme is the kryptonite for White's scheme), going back to even when he had a great La Tech team.

FSU plays Chicago State tonight in what will be a 25+ point win. But yes, the game after that against Tennessee should be a very good matchup.
