Yeah, there're going to be the clear cut favorites for sure.
What do you think about Arkansas chances to make some noise?
This will be the best team CMA has had IMO. Dusty Hannahs and Moses both back and we went the juco route pretty hard with Jaylen Barford, Daryl Macon and Arlando Cook(1,4 and 5 ranked)along with some incoming 3 star- freshmen and red shirt JR transfer from Colorado Dustin Thomas. Finally have a full roster with length to run this system and some knock down three point shooters. Fully expect a tourney bid/run. Also have some studs committed over the next few years.
It's taken longer than expected but I think we take off this year and sustain it, others have hinted at a possible grad transfer in Aaaron Ross from TTech- we will see.
I agree they will be filthy, however I worry about any team winning it all with a freshman point guard.
Then again, Duke did it with Tyus Jones soooooo
Grayson Allen will be a Junior next year. Duke doesn't even have a true point guard for shit's sake.
I don't buy this malarkey, isn't Frank Jackson rated the #4 PG by ESPN in this class.
FWIW, you're another name I recognize from RR. I really hope you post more here.
Posted there for years. Can't do it anymore. Lots of folks over there I love but you have to wade through too many trolls to get there. Appreciate it and I'm gonna try to post more over here.
Tyus Jones was a stud (in college) and a LOT better than Jackson and Allen at the PG spot.
This board needs new input and folks that are not complete homers.
The only question is can Duke defend. A big reason they won in 2015 is because Winslow could defend multiple positions. They're gonna be the top rated offense by far imo though.
Always better to have an elite offense.
Dukes D will be very good. Crazy length and good athleticism.
Duke has had a top ten offense every year since 2010 per Kenpom (too lazy to look farther back) so with or without a true point guard I expect the offense to be elite. It will all come down to how good the defense is, esp at the end of the year.
That's good news for your shooting guard but does he play the point? Isn't Frank Jackson coming in to run the point and be the primary ball handler? Isn't that why Derryck Thornton left? And isn't that a lot to heap on Jackson's shoulders?
I'm nitpicking here of course. Duke is going to be extremely talented.
Not finding his actual rankings in my first couple of tries. But here he is clearly listed by ESPN as a shooting guard. Which is no surprise, because that's what he is.
I do like your joe biden malarkey use though.
You clearly are ignorant to the topic. So why comment?
I'm seriously asking.
It's going to be hilarious when they crap the bed like Kentucky two years ago.
Duke is going to be really good, but that Kentucky team shouldn't have even been tested with that kinda talent they had.
It's really hard to win a championship. UK with that ridiculous team had like a 45% chance to win and that was the highest odds in the modern era.
Nope. Still makes us sick too. I understand college kids getting complacent, bored whatever during the grind of the conference schedule and dropping a game or 2 though.
I agree that the Kentucky team on paper was more complete than this Duke team.
As much as it pains me say however, Duke is better coached.
for ****s sake
Do you guys follow your own recruits at all?
Don't be a complete jackass clive. Why are you ignoring the link I provided? Why don't you educate yourself on Frank Jackson before you decide he is a point guard?
Duke 2nd team is a top 20 team, man they are loaded,
That Kentucky team played in the joke SEC. Should have lost to N Dame, no 3 man poor coaching
ESPN says his weaknesses are forcing his shot, getting teammates involved, and floor vision. Scout says his areas to improve are true point guard. Draftexpress says he is not a willing passer, has tunnel vision, hasn't consistently shown he can run a team, and has average court vision
He may be listed as a PG but that doesn't sound much like a PG to me. Perhaps he'll figure it out, it's a big question mark with this Duke team though.
At least he can hit a jump shot, Fox cant shoot
Congrats Duke fans hope we see you in Pheonix. The point gaurd situation might not be ideal but I think Grayson Allen should be okay at the point. Everything about Jackson screams shooting gaurd to me. He was probably listed as a pg by some services under the expectations that he would develop his pg skills. From what I've seen it doesn't look like that happened but he should be more than fine playing off the ball
If I had a dream team season
I would want Calipari to recruit them sprinkle in some coach K recruiting of a shooter and multi year players
Cal to coach regular season he is good at 30 win seasons
Cal to coach the first four rounds of the tourney
K to coach and not Milk the clock in final four and championship
After its all said and done......
Roy to talk them all in to coming back and repeat for the hell of it
I wanted to like this. But there are a couple of jabs in there.
Add in no Calipari players on the free throw line in crunch time
I only see one
Hence the coach K shooter
There is a jab at cal about killing the clock if that's anything
Hmm so a team that relied almost exclusively on 2 guys to score all the points and lost their best player is gonna be "filthy" because a couple of their incoming recruits look like nice players?
I've seen "filthy" college basketball teams. UNC '09. UNC '05. Kansas '08. Florida '07. Duke '15. Kentucky a few yrs ago. Among others. This Duke team is nowhere near that. People love to get carried away.
Duke will likely be quite good. But we aren't talking powerhouse-good.
For the most part all those team you listed were just title winners. Does that make them powerhouses?
Nobody expected Florida to repeat
08 Kansas Memphis was pretty good. Ucla had a bad coach but that roster was loaded
15 Duke. What about 15 UK
UNC 09 was pretty damn good give ya that one.
