This was definitely not the type of cougar I was hoping to see.
No chance. Some people don’t understand that most animals are in survival mode 24/7 and have to be tough as shit to survive. I wouldn’t give an average man a chance in a cage match with a bobcat or coyote, much less a damn mountain lion. Hell id give a slight edge to a hawk. It’s like mike Tyson’s quote “everybody has a plan until they get hit in the mouth” well Same applies with gettin bit by an animal that size.
Just so you guys know, I am a lot bigger and stronger than this guy. And thedude can back me up on this, the way this guy killed the cat has been my strategy the entire time
Stop being a pussy. Humans are animals too. Fighting for your life, you would do some sick shit. A coyote? Are you kidding me, man? My 70 lb dog can kill a coyote with ease. Unless you don’t think you can kill him, either. Have some damn pride.
The cage match question is pretty LOL and I don't care to wade into that.
But this was a crazy story that was big news here in CO...however, worth noting that this was a starving lion that weighed like 40-50 lbs and was less than 6 months old. If we're talking about a mature male, we're in the 125-150 lb range (in Colorado, I believe they can get bigger in other areas). Whole different ball game.
And obviously the scariest part about a lion attack is that you are generally ambushed, though that's obviously a little different than the discussion at hand.

I don’t know you so you might be a tough sob but I was speaking more to an avg person. If you haven’t noticed people seem to be getting softer by the second.
I don’t know what kind of dog you have but I’ve seen plenty of species of dogs including husky (probably best comparison to coyote), Rottweilers, Doberman and pit bulls I’d want no part of either. Not to mention some of the big ass breeds.
Imo the dude that killed the juvenile sized mountain lion is lucky as ****. And there is obv a massive difference in killing a young one and full sized one.
So, I reached out to a veterinarian who works at a cheetah preserve with whom I went to school, and asked her about this. I will share her professional feedback when she gets back to me.
I think you need to give yourself and humans in general some credit here. A cougar is probably reaching for most people, but the average man could definitely kill a coyote or big dog without much of a problem. Size and muscle alone would be hard to overcome. Coyotes don’t get much bigger than 50 lbs and dogs can only bite you. I don’t think you’re comprehending just how many fvcked up things you would do fighting for your life.
I followed a coyote at about 30 yards for 5 minutes or so last week on a hike because it happened to be walking my trail. I'd guess he was about 40 lbs. Would've been more likely to become my pet than to kill me.

Still haven't seen one out here, but have seen fresh lion tracks in the snow on a couple occasions.
Yea I can’t really disagree about the “survival mode” there’s really no tellin what a human might do.
Plus there’s really no way to flat out make an animal fight you even in a cage it’s gonna be hell to get a hand on a wild animal unless the cage is so small You can’t turn around.
One of the tougher guys I knew used to go on and on about how he could kill any kind of monkey besides a gorilla in a cage match scenario like ur suggesting. Just senseless back and forth, the real answer I guess is who knows. But I don’t see an avg man ****in with a baboon or any non-spider monkey type primate.
The one thing I will say is I think you are underestimating how damn tough animals are. If you killed a full grown mountain line it would likely be far and away the most incredible physical feat you or any most any human has ever achieved. If the mountain lion kills you it’s a Tuesday. They are constantly in fight or die mode when most non military people are never faced with that paradigm.
Yes exactly, my buddy thought he could take one easily bc he would be much quicker and had quick hands like he was gonna punch the thing to death or KO it with an uppercut. Even baboons are crazy strong given their size, not to mention the fangs on em. Needless to say we had a lot of fun making fun of him.

"Ha ha ha! Depends on where and why they are fighting. They're not that big. But cats have strength and climb trees and have five dangerous sections: four feet with claws, plus the mouth. Just amplify a house cat times a thousand. All man has are some random punches to throw. But they are shy and probably would not want to fight. But if this was a Thunderdome kinda situation, and the cat wanted to fight? The cat would win."

Yeah, she was the primary vet to the royal family of Dubai or something nuts like that for a while... she does a lot of work with falcons and other birds of prey.

BTW, the biggest ever seen was 276 lbs. And check this one out... for reference, the guy is six foot, 260.
Anyway... I literally found an expert in the field. And yes, I told her how big you are.
Oh, and how tall and heavy you are.
