Did UNC Basketball Get away with a Loophole?

Did they?

  • Yes

  • No

Results are only viewable after voting.
It gets a bit boring reading about the debate over and over. Did they "cheat" or not? NCAA says no. What does basketball fans, from others fans say?

Truthfully, this was meant to be a thread where smack can go. but realized while typing this is a fruitless endeavor. Nevermind.

No sanctions, and officially they did not really get in trouble with the NCAA.

Hopefully back and forth can be avoided, but lets be honest, we all know that UNCfaninKY and Scotty will be going at it like cats and dogs soon enough. And I think we know how the voting will go (although it is possible that a UNC fan might vote yes I suppose?)

There's also Art Schlichter, who served 10 years in prison. Schlichter was a 4-year starter for Ohio State from 78-81. This is from his wiki page:

Over the years, Schlichter has, by his own count, committed more than 20 felonies.[20] He gambled away much of his NFL, Arena League and radio salaries.

Whenever he ran low on money to support his gambling, he stole and conned it from friends and strangers. He also passed bad checks; when he first started gambling, casinos still took personal checks. He would write a check to the casino and use the money to gamble, believing he would win enough money to pay the casino back and keep the profit. However, he almost always lost.[12] In a 2007 interview for ESPN's Outside the Lines, he estimated that he'd stolen $1.5 million over the years, if not more.

lol. Ohio State quaterbacks. There's got to be more of this out there, right?
It was in defense of Michael Vick, that’s all I really remember. It’s just one of my all time quotes that I like to crowbar in. I truly feel that Pryor could kill somebody and have a genuine, sincere George Costanza “is that frowned upon?” Moment after reading that quote

Never heard of that one before. I'll have to save that quote. Out of context, it sounds really, really bizarre. Certainly makes you raise an eyebrow when you first read it... Kind of similar to what Bobby Knight said about rape: "I think that if rape is inevitable, relax and enjoy it."

Clearly Cal shared the same advice with his team this year

The best one is McCants saying that playing sports in college is like being in prison.

In an interview with WRAL-TV, he also said being a part of the team was like a 9-to-5 job.

"To get up, go to school, get in here, lift weights and play basketball. That's my 9 to 5," McCants said. "As my uncle said, I'm in jail right now. You're not allowed to do certain things. You're not allowed to say certain things, but once you get out of jail, you're free. (I'm) in my sentence and I'm doing my time."

McCants said his uncle first made the reference to prison.

Can’t vote no because UNC didn’t break any rules, therefore, no loophole was used.
Good try.... A for effort.

Actually, I think "no" would be appropriate; you do not believe they used a loophole to get away with anything. The fact that you do not believe they didn't break any rules, and therefore didn't NEED to use a loophole, doesn't change that, right? You do not believe they got away with anything.

Sorry, to be clear; you can choose not to participate in the vote because you feel it is troll-y or whatever, but I think logically the "no" answer would be accurate; you do not think that UNC used a loophole to "get away" with anything (b/c there was nothing to "get away with.")

UNC has also decided the losses to Texas and Michigan earlier this season were not, in fact, losses. The NCAA has no jurisdiction over UNC's enforcement of record keeping. The institution should have control in determining what's considered a legitimate win and a legitimate loss. Therefore, the two aforementioned losses will be removed and the school will be allowed to self-report all wins and losses going forward. Needless to say, 2019 is going to be a great season. #GDTBATH

GREAT !!!! At least Roy doesn’t cry about the Refs like K did after Gonzaga beat him.

The same loophole other universities have without the AFAM distinction, I suppose? I didn't get too caught up in it all (once Jarms left), because I'd seen and heard about plenty of it firsthand, not at Carolina, of course. I've seen behind the curtain in the past couple decades. Even in college (late 90s) I hung out with D1 baseball players and they all had schedules aligned to keep 'em easy and keep 'em eligible. I knew a basketball player that ended up quitting because his coaches didn't like him being so invested in school. He was a bench warmer, but still. I've been told firsthand about kids getting paid and plenty of perks none of us every received. It's one big cesspool. But, hey, it could be worse. It could be college football. We ain't got nothin on them! ;)

Yes sir. I’ve had a few pics of her on here. I change them up every few months. I think that one was taken before her morning jog on thanksgiving.

Oh, I knew you changed them up... didn't realize it was the same girl, just thought you had a thing for blondes with asses. Good on you, man, good on you.

She’s definitely not a workout model like Brian’s but I think she’s very beautiful. Great mother, great wife & has a great career.
Outside of that damn Dallas Cowboys star tattooed on her ass check, she’s pretty great.
